If you could choose between getting a Tacori setting that you loved, or having Leon Mege do something similar, which would you choose? I see upside of the Tacori being that I would definitely know what the end product will look like, and it would probably be done sooner. I see the upside of the Leon Mege route being that it would be something truly unique. Is Tacori up to par with Leon Mege in terms of quality, etc.?

Any feedback would be most appreciated!

Thanks.

Leon Mege hands down. His work is worth it.

Okay, as the owner of a Tacori -- choose Leon! That is not to say that I dislike my Tacori; but if you have the means ($$) to do a custom Leon Mege, do so!

And no, based on what I''ve seen here, Tacori is not the same par with Leon M. My ring is nice, but it is not perfect. It is merely a lovely setting with its own *personality*. A Leon M should be, and most likely will be, outstanding.

This is, of course, only an opinion, but I think that Leon''s stuff might be better for several reasons. First, it is built custom to your stone. Second, I have heard a lot of things about Tacori''s melee diamonds falling out. This could happen with any pave setting, but I have not heard an awful lot about Leon''s doing that.

That being said, I fell in love with a Tacori setting and I had a sales lady at Bailey Banks and Biddle memo the ring for me to look at in person. I was disappointed. Here is the setting:

http://www.tacori.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH&Product_Code=2525PR65&Category_Code=ENGAGEMENT&Store_Code=TACORI&Search=A&offset=10&filter_cat=4&PowerSearch_Begin_Only=&sort=&range_low=&range_high=%20&srch_srcha=1

Anyway, in person, the pave diamonds up the shank and the baguettes in the halo were so small, that the ring really had no substance to it. And it was $5100.00. Leon gave me an estimate of less than that to do his style number 511 Halo. On the other hand, Leon is probably not going to copy someone else''s design.

I hope that helps. If you are considering a Tacori, at least try to see it in real life first (maybe you did and that is where you fell in love with the setting).

ooo, that would be a tough one for me. I am such a believer if you find a setting already made out there to buy the real thing b/c you will know exactly what you are getting. however, Leon is a master and I adore his settings and would love to own one. Personally, having seen both tacori and leon settings in person, I prefer the quality of the Leon and if you are willing to have a setting by him that is a little different than the tacori you like, i''d go that route. But, tacori''s are beautiful in their own right so if that is what your heart is really set on, get that one.

Ditto!

I''m not a huge fan of Tacori, but I''d choose Leon hands down anyway.

Leon without a doubt.

Leon.

For me there wouln''t even be a question about which!

An extra heaping helping of...Leon. §

PS. I just held my first Tacori. I have loved them forever...but I will say years of staring a photo larger than Texas left me disappointed in the actual setting. The stones were tiny and the detail seemed not as dominant as I had pictured. No offense to anyone who has Tacori...they are still a beautiful unique brand. I just wanted to share my thoughts. Note...I have never held a Leon. But that doesn''t stop my heart from pounding and yearning for the day I will. Bottom line is...if you have held a Tacori and YOU love it. Then go for that. If you are teetering on the fence ...Mege!
