If you change your screen name

This thread makes me wonder??? and be confused , not good with names anyway, I changed my screen name a while back for a few reasons, the old one did not flow and everyone spelled it wrong (it was lcom), I am new and did not think anyone would notice and I noticed I have been seeing people from here on other forums and tried to change mine so it was the same as on those but it ended up being taken so I made it as close as I could. I kept the same avatar thinking that is how I id people anyway, like others have said, I did not feel it was worth an announcement.

i wouldn't bother to change my SN cuz with my horrible grammers and spellings you guys would figure me out in a second,so why bother.

thing2of2...you should change your SN to "THINK LEFT"

I shortened mine. It's just that people would sometimes shorten it to SB and I always would say "Son of a B" in my head.. 8-)

Well, I don't change my screen names for a forum, ever, so it's just something I wouldn't do.

I used to do that in the old days of the internet. All my friends did it too. It was a lot of fun. But I stopped doing it years ago. To me, it just doesn't seem to fit in with what the internet has become in its more settled form, and it's likely to make people feel confused or deceived. It's kind of strange that it was once such a large part of the internet culture I was involved with, but today I have no use for it and don't really approve of it, but there it is.

Well I have no clue who anyone is. 8)

I changed my name a weensy bit but kept my account and avatar. If people don't recognize me after 13k posts and the same avatar and basically the same name, then tough tuckus.

Your little change didn't matter because you're still "DD" to us.

My original screen name -- sarap333 - was chosen randomly and quickly, because I *thought* I would only be a member for a short time -- ha-ha. Fast forward to a little over a year later -- well, I'm still here and I hated the numbers at the end of my screen name. So I changed my name when PS 2.0 rolled out. I kept my avatar because that's more of my "identity" on PS than my name anyway.

ETA: "Portree" is a beautiful town on the Isle of Skye. Hope I can go back there someday.

I changed my name a few years back, because my old name was my old AOL SN and name on other things and I had a crazy ex-SO that I found out was kind of tracking me. When I moved, I changed my name because I thought it would keep him from reading posts that may reveal details about my life currently. Silly me though, forgetting that old posts would still show up under the old SN!

(I was certainly not asked to leave though! :) Since you have to go through the admin to change your SN, I'd think they wouldn't change it for you if they wanted you to leave?)

Ha, I didn't realize this was a Mean Girl thread! I didn't think this was started with bad intentions, HH. You're blunt but you're certainly not a Mean Girl. I'm really not sure how this could be seen as a Mean Girl thread, after more thought. You didn't out anyone, and what's mean about asking a question? If the anonymous posters want to remain anonymous, they can refrain from outing themselves in this thread.

I mostly think it's funny that I get to know someone's writing style so well that I can recognize them just from posts on the internet. I'm sure people have their reasons to change names, try to be incognito, etc. I think it's a little silly but oh well.

Edited to elaborate more.

I think T202, that you should go nuts and go incognito as Thing1of2. :rodent:

OMG this made me laugh hard
