DH and I pay for each other, but before our money was joint we would just switch off who paid.

If I go out with friends, we generally split 50/50, unless one person wasn't drinking and others ordered a bottle of wine or something, then we'll let the non-drinker pay less while the drinkers pick up more of the tab. Or if one person got just as salad, while the other got a $25 meal, we probably wouldn't break it up exactly 50/50.

The man paying bit is nullified in a couple situation.

The 'depending on who did the inviting' bit further depends on the circumstances.

If we invited them and are treating the couple as a reward or to celebrate an event then I would pay.

If they invited us to reward us then they should offer to pay.

If they invited us to celebrate our event then I would want to pay. Like they suggested we go out to celebrate our wedding anni, I would want to pay for that.

If it is a friendly (esp. if it is regular) dinner then I would want to 50/50 no matter who invited who. Same for coffee, if I met a friend occasionally I would pay for the coffee and expect him/her to pay some of the time. But if we met up twice a week, or even weekly I would want to pay for my own and him/her his/her own.

If it's a special occassion and I invited you, then I'll take care of the tab (most of my friends and I take turns taking care of the tab).
If we're dating, the man pays.
If we're just getting to know each other 50/50.
If it's out with couple friends, 50/50.

Probably the Fountain or La Croix? I can think of some expensive places in the suburbs but I think those are probably the fanciest ones left in Center City now...

I never EXPECT anyone to pay for me, but would probably accept with a promise to return the favour next time if they did.
If I go out to eat with BF he pays becase he makes significantly more then me, but somtimes I insist on paying when I can afford to.

La Croix?? Have to look that up. Since DD went to Penn, she has given us great recs .. I think those savvvy college kids should write a guide... Many that she has taken us to have been amazing...
