I would like to express my sympathy and condolence to you because of the events in your country. Recent flooding has taken away thousands of lives, mostly poor people living in poor areas.

I hope that none of you has any relatives or friends living in the area and that no one that you know has suffered from the flood. It is a terrible disaster for the country.

crasru-

I am not Pakistani, but I appreciate your posting. A collage of photographs on the front page of, "The New York Times" today showed the flooding in Pakistan; the fires in Russia due to the intense heat from the heat wave there; and a wind storm in Chicago. The caption speculated about whether global warming was resonsible for chaotic weather around the world. Whatever is causing it, we are certainly seeing nature create human misery with poverty as a complicating factor.

Thank you for your sensitivity.

Crasru, you are very thoughtful to create this thread. I hope that aid will come quickly and be effectively distributed to those affected.

Yes - I saw pictures today too, what a wretched situation

I do hope those in need of aid get it quickly and in plenty.

my heart goes out to the affectees - it seems like such a dire situation, with the potential to become so much worse with the water-borne illnesses that are beginning to spread (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-10984477)

the scale of it is just unimaginable - affecting more people than the earthquake in Haiti, the Tsunami and the 2005 Pakistan Earthquake combined. i wish the media would give move coverage to the story, so more people would feel compelled to help.

please donate whatever you can, every little bit helps. agencies like the Red Cross and Oxfam are taking donations.
