Hi everyone,
I can't decide which is the better deal here..
Was offered two diamonds by two different dealers and no way to compare them side by side...

Both triple ex (cut symmetry polish) GIA. No fluorescence

One is 1.70,E , si1 inclusions majority r crystals, scattered on the edge of table in a crescent shape, not very visible with naked eye, small cloud, feather over a cavity on the pavilion near girdle and a small needle.
Crown angle is 32.5, pavilion angle is 41.6, table, 59, depth61.2.... Medium to slightly thick girdle...
4.3 on hca...
From what I remember in the store it looked quite bright but I had an issue with the shallower crown so I was more inclined to the 1.78...
But then I put the angles and dimensions into hca and the score for the one I thought has better fire (below) was 4.9...
According to hca I should reject these two diamonds...
What do u guys think??

The other is 1.78,F, si1 inclusions r feathers, a small one visible to side of crown near girdle, the rest r on the pavilion side.. And two small naturals on the girdle on pavilion side...
Crown angles 33.5, pavilion 41.6, depth61.4...table 57..
In the store, it looked really nice, great fire...
Both r 19,350 usd...
Which would u choose??

Neither but I would certainly consider this one: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12250/ for $19,313.

Much better cut and analysis of stone included!

Hi FT!

I am with MGR, I wouldn't choose either of these personally with such deep pavilion angles, you have an excellent budget and you will be able to get a stunning diamond with it, I wouldn't spend that sort of money on either of the above stones personally. Have you considered buying online at all or do you prefer to stick with a jewellery store? Also a point to remember, these diamonds might have looked ok to good in the jewellery store lighting but get them outside and they could lose power, I would wait for a diamond with better proportions personally. Here is a cheat sheet I made years ago with the help of expert John Pollard which should get you within the ballpark of better cut diamonds.

depth - 60 - 62% - although my personal preference is to allow up to 62.4%
table - 54- 57%
crown angle - 34- 35 degrees
pavilion angle - 40.6- 41 degrees
girdle - avoid extremes, look for thin to slightly thick, thin to medium etc
polish and symmetry - very good and above

note - with crown and pavilion angles at the shallower ends ( CA 34- PA 40.6) and steeper ( CA 35- PA 41) check to make sure these angles complement in that particular diamond - eyeballs, Idealscope, trusted vendor input - check as appropriate!

From John Pollard.

''As the above implies, configurations depend on each other. A little give here can still work with a little take there.

With that said, here''s a "Cliff''s Notes" for staying near Tolkowsky/ideal angles with GIA reports (their numbers are rounded): A crown angle of 34.0, 34.5 or 35.0 is usually safe with a 40.8 pavilion angle. If pavilion angle = 40.6 lean toward a 34.5-35.0 crown. If pavilion angle = 41 lean toward a 34.0-34.5 crown.

GIA "EX" in cut is great at its heart, but it ranges a bit wider than some people prefer, particularly in deep combinations (pavilion > 41 with crown > 35).''
