If I upgrade diamond will it fit into custom setting

This is probably a naive question but I am looking at settings for a cushion (I was originally going to do 3 stone princess but those seemed too small). I really like the Leon solitaire or something similar. I know he makes the ring for the stone. Do other custom jewelers do this?

I will probably go up .5 carat or so in a few years and don''t want to go through process and cost of nice custom job if another ring won''t fit.

This is another PSer''s setting that is similar to what I want. I am thinking the top of the basket if that is what it is called is sized only for the size of stone to be set in it, but wanted to confirm.

You are correct, that setting would not accommodate a larger stone. I love that setting btw!

If you had a band with a peg head, that could be removed and a larger one put on. I would probably put the stone in an inexpensive setting for now, and get the custom when you upgrade the diamond.

Ok, I wasn''t finding what I wanted on here, so I just pulled up a page of them from Stuller. As you can see, the band has a hole in it. You would then have the head with the "peg" at the bottom of it, attach/connect into the band. That way, you can remove the head if you got a bigger diamond, have it set in a larger peg head, and once again connect them.
