Hello everyone -

I am back after a long hiatus... After being quite active on this forum for a while I got married, had a baby, moved, then started a PhD. This has kept me busy and without much forum time, which I miss. I've been lurking around some lately though as I have a few future projects in mind and have also been enjoying everyone's new bling and, as always, the veritable treasure trove of information on this wonderful forum!

I would like to ask for some feedback / advice. While pregnant (and for a few months afterwards) my fingers ballooned to the point where I couldn't wear my Leon Mege e-ring for almost a year. Since finally losing all of the baby weight, my fingers are now smaller than they were before (although I am at the same weight as before - weird)!

My ring has become so loose that I can no longer really wear it safely. I would send it back to Leon to have it sized down, however we are currently trying to get pregnant again, so I'd like to wait until if and when I'm done with childbearing to do anything permanent to my ring given what I went through the first time around.

Therefore, I am looking for temporarily solutions - can anyone help? My e-ring is here:

Thanks so much! :twirl:

Can you go to a local jeweler and ask to have a sizing bar put it? It's cheap and quick/ and can be removed.

Thanks for your reply. So I asked a local jeweler about this and they said that they solder a bar in - is that true? If so, that sounds sort of invasive. A big problem is that I've moved to a much smaller center and am not familiar with (read: don't really trust) any jewelers here.

maybe sizing beads? I think those could be removed?

For my ering I had them put in a temp. sizing bar before they actually had time to size to my finger. It wasn't very pretty to look at but it was confortable and didn't require them to sauter anything. I would ask about that.

sna77 just had sizing beads put in his wife's ring because it would spin after it went over the knuckle. Let me see if I can find it. She also had a smaller ring size after having children!

I think you are wise to wait to resize after your finish having babies! The problem of the ring being too big is much easier to solve on a temporary basis, that's for sure!

this is what I am talking about. From what I understand it can be easily removed.

What about getting a spacer in your correct size and wearing it on the outside (fingertip side) of your ring? That gives you something that you can hardly see that will act as a stopper of sorts.

I'd just do the sizing beads until you are done having kids. My ring size shrunk after having kids too!

If you don't want to solder anything to your ring, what about those plastic ring sizers ("ring snuggies") from Claire's?

I've never heard of these... they sound promising! How do they work?

they are little rubbery pieces that clip around the bottom of your ring to make it tighter. I've used them before and didn't like them. I'd just do tiny sizing beads. It's not going to damage your ring at all. The one's at claire's are only a few bucks so it wouldn't hurt to try them out and see what you think.

HI:

Howdy! Still in BC?

I really don't like sizing beads--but it might be the most viable option for you at this point. My ring is top heavy--and it was suggested to build the shank up as a permanent solution for spinning; but you might not want to do that (yanno more kids and all) right now.

cheers--Sharon

Sizing beads also worked for me, I have larger knuckles and my ring spins less. My sister-in-law lost 20 lbs and her ring size went 2 sizes smaller. She had a butterfly or horsehoe sizer put on her ring (similar to the picture below but hers is a bit thicker), please see attached photo, I believe this ring belongs to a PScoper.

I hope this helps.

Bem, I just want to say welcome back and congratulations on your big events in your life. Wow, a baby and a phD. That is a lot on your plate girlfriend! Your thread on your ring has been bookmarked on my computer for the longest time. I have always loved your ring, and
came really close to using it as the inspiration for my own. I am glad to see you back!

I would do the least invasive thing to your ring. I would call Leon and see what he recommends. Surely he would be able to give you some
ideas for a temporary solution, but in the very least tell you if it would be a problem to take the sizing beads out and if he would be able to re-size. That would at least give you some direction.

Thanks! And wow on your stunner ring, too!!

I have not yet called Leon but did e-mail through the general form and have yet to hear anything back. Perhaps I'll try e-mailing him directly and then call if I don't hear from him. Thanks for your feedback - I agree that I want to do the least invasive thing possible!!

I would buy a small band (or two if you want a symmetrical look) that is a smaller size and use that to hold the current ring in place... sure it will spin but it won't fall off!
