Ideas needed for setting a 0.57ct K VS2 OEC

5.04 x 4.91 x 3.37mm

I will be gifting it to my Mother-In-Law for Christmas, Ideally as a Pendant as recently she lost/mislaid a 1ct Diamond Solitaire Pendant that was gifted to her on her 25th Wedding Anniversary.

The one she lost was a simple 4 Prong 18k Yellow Gold Setting - I am unsure whether to go 4 Prong, Double Prong setting or even Bezel set whatever the setting it will
definitely be in 18k Yellow Gold!

What type of setting is best for a Stone this size?

To amp up size, bezel or faux bezel if she'd like that.

I would not do double prongs on a stone that size. I think it will be overwhelming. Are you looking to set it in a stock setting?

I agree to a bezel. I have a 5.5 mm stone set in a bezel pendant and a 6.5 mm stone set in prongs as a pendant and they look the same size. If she is used to a 1 ct pendant, I think a bezel will amp up the size and be closer to what she has lost.

Is she an antiques lover with vintage style clothes and hair or more classic/contemporary with casual style?

For an antiques lover, a black silver collet on a yellow or rose gold chain is quite amazing to look at IRL, though it is an acquired taste. I had one made and it’s my daily necklace. It was worth every penny, and all the headaches. I love it!

Vintage-y and Classic both look great with a white gold milgrain bezel on a simple cable chain, a la BGD’s Barbara. Lots of PSers have this style and love it. Personally I think milgrain really *makes* this look!

For the modern gal, a bold clean bezel with matching chain such as the Tiffany DBTY solitaire is a solid bet.
