Hello! Have been a bit of a lurker lately, and I have loved reading about everyone''s sparklies! :) I have learned so much here and really appreciate the info. I believe I''ve now made an informed choice on e-ring and now would like to ask some "wearing advice".

ISSUE:
I need to make a decision about sizing my e-ring, or change how I plan to wear it.

I am thinking to to wear my e-ring on my left hand until the wedding, and then switch it to my right hand because:

a.) So far, I haven''t seen a WB with halo combo that I like (curved or flat).
b.) I have a gorgeous 7mm vintage Tiffany braided eternity band that cannot be resized and fits my left ring finger. This was a gift to myself earlier this year, and I''m not willing to put it away yet -- even for him or a beautiful replacement.
c.) He would like me to "never take it off" (WB)
d.) I would love to have a beautiful (yet not flashy), practical WB that I can wear without fear while traveling, doing sports, etc.

SO, I am thinking to get a WB that stacks with my eternity band (photo) for my left hand, and switching my e-ring to my right post-wedding. I thought of this just today, good idea?

Sizing -
My left is a 4.5 and my right is a 6. Eeks.
From what I can tell from the sizing rings in the jewelry shop on a warm day, a 5.5 is the absolute max I can go on my left without it slipping off when my hand is at my side. (I have one ring that was sized down to a 5, and I won''t wear it in winter, I''m so afraid it will fall off).

I was thinking to size this e-ring to 5-3/4, which seems like a reasonable compromise, yet I''m afraid this might mean it not fitting well on either hand.

Any other ideas?
- Beads? (this is a new thing I''ve only just read about on this forum today)
- Horseshoe?
- Size it down to a 6 and spend the next two months with my left hand in a fist?
- Liposuction on my right ring finger?
- Other wearing advice?

Thanks so much!!

Hi TB and welcome! I think that you have come up with an excellent solution of wearing your WB and your current ring on your left hand and your ER on your right. I have a dear friend who has a very large emerald cut ER that is beautiful but she''s not the type to wear it every day as she often gardens and plays sports. She wears a plain band on her left hand and then puts the emerald on the right for special occasions.

I would get your ER sized for your right hand and work on a temporary solution for wearing it on the left. Perhaps beads that could be removed by a good benchman? Another thought is whether you might be able to wear the ER behind your eternity temporarily to keep it in place? I don''t have a great solution but you might visit a couple of reputable local jewelers and see if they have any ideas.

Lastly, your eternity ring is just beautiful! I love the idea of stacking it with your WB!

Gayle - Just wanted to thank you for your thoughtful response.
I got my ER today - sized to a 6 for my right hand, and it''s just beautiful. Still haven''t found the WB to stack with my eternity band, but too entranced with my dainty new ER to care for the moment! :)

Do you have a photo of the halo e-ring? I have one as my e-ring and had a curved w-band made to wear with it. I probably wouldn't wear the w-band on its own. I also have a 5 stone band that I use when I don't want to wear the wedding set. If you want to see any pics, let me know. I'm not sure, however, that this would meet you or your fiance's requirements.

Dear Gayle -

I found my Wedding Band (on my first try!) -- it matches my Eternity Ring perfectly. I thought I''d have to get a custom-made band, but this one looks like it was made to match. I pick it up this weekend, and will soon be able to post on SMTR. :)

WRT the sizing issue - I'd think a horseshoe would provide some leeway with adjusting to the different sizes.

Attaching a picture of Jazmine's gorgeous

ring with a horseshoe sizer - maybe you could even do just a single bar instead of the two sides of the horseshoe?

That''s a great choice, and not an uncommon one. It allows you to be practical but wear your e-ring on special occasions.
