Could you guys check out the images here? This is the diamond I have posted about over the past few days, VVS2, F color, about 1.13 carat:

I''m really posting just to bump this up for you as I don''t know anything about princess cut. But from what I can see, I think it looks good!

Thanks, yes, any comments would be much appreciated as I am a complete rookie other than the knowledge I''ve gained online over the past few weeks!!

looks good to me...but i am also a rookie.

I don''t not know a lot about princesses. However, that is a lovely one. I have seen a number posted here, and that is one of the nicest patterns I have seen. However, I don''t know a lot about princesses.

One problem I am having is that the place that has this diamond, does not have a setting I like. So I guess I will have to maybe buy the diamond from them, and buy a separate setting from someone else, and have it set locally (I am on the east coast of Canada)..........Not sure if that is a bad idea?

Did you see the F VVS I posted in your Sarin/GIA thread?

Julie,
Yup, took a look at that one. The reason I didn''t like it was:
- almost $1000 more than the one in this thread
- table of 57% (I thought 63-69 was more ideal)
- depth 76.6 (thought under 75 was more ideal)
- its ''cut'' was only rated ''good'' on a scale of "fair/good/very good/signature"

Again, I''m a rookie at this, so if I am misreading some of this stuff, please correct me!
Thx!

a table by itself means nothing. different tables have different personalities. Nothing wrong with a 57% table...you just might not like the look.

depth also means nothing by itself. I like to stay above 75, but the proportions grade (which factors in spread) is still a 0 grade.

never go by what a vendor who simply lists inventory says the cut grade is.

but since the JA stone is so much cheaper, I'd probably go with it. Looks good.

email jim a picture of the setting you like and see what he can come up with.
