Hi, I am looking to purchase a diamond from James Allen. I requested an idealscope image and they sent me the image below.
It's a 1 ct Excellent cut, Excellent Symmetry and Excellent Polish (GIA). My concern is the idealscope image. It has a couple extra dark red blotches to the right of the middle of the diamond. What is this?? I've never seen something like this before.
Even the regular picture looks a bit skewed. Should I avoid this diamond?

EDIT: are you referring to the black along the arrow shaft? If so it will be fine, I actually prefer that there be some black along the shafts. Someone else can probably give you more insight, but it's my understanding that this will cause more firey flashes along the arrows.

i'm referring to the dark spot just to the right of the middle. It looks like a dark butterfly and is only located on the right side.
I'm confused because it's supposed to have excellent symmetry, but it has this - but i don't know if this is normal. i've never seen this on any other idealscope image before.

Thats what I thought you were referring to. It's normal to have black along the shafts of the arrows in the IS, so I don't think that there is anything to worry about. As I mentioned before, I believe that this will result in some nice firey flashes. I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in though. =)
