Sorry in advance if this question has been asked and answered a million times... Will the IdealScope, in concert with GIA numbers, help me determine the grade of cut of my princess shape diamond?

I purchased this diamond in my Diamond Dark Ages, before I knew that there was more to a good cut than table and depth percentages. It''s a done deal, but I''m still curious about the cut grade, if only for my own edification. The stone is mounted, so I''m not sure if I can still use the IdealScope.

Thanks for your help!

The IdealScope works nicely on mounted diamonds. If the diamond performs well with it, then regardless of the GIA parameters, the diamond has good or better light performance. The GIA parameters will assist you with some of the other details such as durability, finish and depth to width ratio. Tolkowsky is becoming a thing of the past. New light theory is what is taking its place.

Thanks very much for your fast reply.

Annoying question #2: Is the IdealScope relatively easy to use and interpret for the lay person?

Thanks again.

It takes some practice but the answer is yes.
Nice thing about using it on a allready purchased ring is that you can play with it as much as you want without time constrants.
