Does anyone know whether something like an idealscope can be used for fancy cuts, or is the idealscope intended only for the round brilliant cut?

Are there any guidelines (depth, table, etc.) for the Asscher cut?

Thanks!

Yes you can use the ideal-scope.
In general the more red the better and some black is good too - such stones will show more frequent flashes of fire and the redder they are the bigger they will look for their weight.

There will always be some white in fancies. Try to avoid stones where it is all concentrated in the same large area. The more white near the edges of the stone - the smaller the stone will appear for its weight.

there is a small section at www.ideal-scope under 'how to use' about fancy shapes. we are working to add to this right now and what i have just typed is as a result of some new studies prompted by a some work we did for Dave Atlas's presentation next week at the JCK Diamond Fair.
