Is that an actual IS image, or is it just a zoom photo taken with a red filter? I guess I'm a bit confused and expected more variation of black/grey/light.

I'm with Enerchi, it doesn't look right to me either. Is it a solasfera?

edit: I thought maybe it was a solasfera, but I think they have 10 arrows not 8? hopefully someone else will chime in because I'm curious now.

Re: Idealscope experts: is this a good or bad idealscope ima

that's not a solasfera. it only has 8 arrows and solafera's have 10. on the other hand, the IS does have the color and zero light leakage like solasferas do

Fife can you post the report for the stone? As I understand it stones with painted girdles can look similar to the image you posted, it's why solasferas looks similar to this image.

That is not an Ideal Scope.

From the initial post, the HCA scored a 5.5. Here is the link. http://www.exceldiamonds.com/Diamonds-1/GIA-Graded-Round-Diamond-1-53-Carat-H-Color-VS1-Clarity-194958.html

The cut is listed as excellent but wouldnt the HCA be better then?

(I realize the question was IS image but this got me thinking, so im sorry about the tangent)

I haven't read through the original thread yet, but I will. In regards to the HCA...not necessarily. We've seen AGS0 score poorly on the HCA as well, and yet have beautiful IS images and great light performance. That's why it's so important to get IS images. But, that blows my theory though about the painting, if the stone had this degree of painting it wouldn't have received GIA EX for cut, because they knock the grade at some point for excessive painting or digging. I'll go back an read through the thread. Thanks for the link Enerchi!

Just saw Julies post....I was thinking the same thing!

edit: Just saw the link for the stone, yeah, there is no way that is the IS image of this stone.

Re: Idealscope experts: is this a good or bad idealscope ima

what exactly is painting?

Re: Idealscope experts: is this a good or bad idealscope ima

I see minimal painting. I think it's just a badly lit and photographed IS image. Looks like slight leakage along the edge of the table from 10 to 4 o'clock to me.
