Hey there!

I''ve seen the different images of Ideal scope, Sarin, etc. and I know the diamond "experts" are always wanting to see them to make a judgement.

However, I''m not so sure what they are! Could you explain the different "tests" diamonds should go through before choosing? Also, do some tests need to be run for certain cuts? I''m interested in asschers and rounds.

Please help- what should I be looking for? Thanks!

Hi AmandaRX. Others will be able to help you with this more, but the Idealscope lets you look at how the diamond absorbs/reflects light (I believe, to evaluate the cut). The Sarin report is a certification. With Asschers, it reports the crown height, which is important and something that GIA reports do not provide.

Good luck with the hunt!

An Idealscope is a tool that helps to view areas of light leakage in a diamond. It is used identify diamonds that return light well and help you eliminate from consideration diamonds that don''t return light well.

A Sarin is a report that provides measurement data on a diamond. These include data about total depth, table, crown and pavilion measurements, girdle measurements, and other data about lower halves, etc. This data helps to determine how well the diamond''s proportions work together.

Both are helpful.

This page in the on-line tutorial here on Pricescope should help, too!
