I am just looking at diamonds now to teach myself a few things before seriously considering certain ones.

My first question is can you assume for the most part that if the diamond cutter app rates a diamond around 1-2 for visual performance, you can consider the cut to be excellent and it should have maximum brilliance and maximum dispersion?

Second, is the white in this Ideal Scope report normal for most ideal cut stones or are those white spots to be considered a lot of leakage? The redder the diamond, the better the cut, but are these white spots ok for a diamond that is ideal?

That IS image is awesome! Yes, the white points at the star tips are controlled leakage, and are intentional and normal in ideal cut diamonds. It actually helps with scintillation.

And yes usually diamonds which score between 1 and 2 should be good diamonds, images are always best though.

It is a great stone - what did you decide to do in terms of ering vs wedding band or both?
