HELLO

LONG STORY SHORT.

I WAS LOOKING FOR RB 1.8-1.9 CARAT WITH MY BUDGET OF 20K (INCLUDING SETTING), AND I FOUND BEUTIFUL DIAMONDS ON JAMESALLEN AND REQUESTED TO GET IDEAL SCOPE OF IMAGE. I HAVE TWO STONES THAT ARE IN MY MIND AND WOULD LIKE YOU GUYS TO HELP ME DECIDE. BOTH ARE WITHIN MY BUDGET 17.5K AND 17K AND ACCORDING TO JAMESALLEN THEY BOTH ARE COMPLETELY EYE CLEAN.

AND IDEAL SCOPE BELOW. THIS IS 1.9 CARAT I/VS2

I HAVE BOTH DIAMONDS FOR HOLD FOR NOW.. AND GEMOLOGIST TOLD ME THAT SECOND ONE PERFORMED BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE WITH LIGHT RETURN AND FIRE...

LOOKS TO ME THAT FIRST ONE HAS BETTER SYMMETRY AND LOOKS BETTER ON THE IDEAL SCOPE..

PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE

THANKS A BUNCH!!

Of those two, I like the second one better. :read:

Thanks for the reply. Would you mind telling me why do you prefer second one v. And if you were in my shoe with 20k then would you buy second one??

I would prefer Higher colour lower clarity but eye clean

Well, everyone has different tastes. If it were me, I'd drop down to VS2, go up in color, and down in weight. But that's me! If that spread is important, I agree with treasurehunter; I'd nudge down on clarity and up in color.

any inputs will be appreciated.

thanks

I'm no expert but between these two stones, I would choose the second one and take slightly more scale and a cleaner stone. Given you aren't yet able to judge it in person, I would also defer to the gemologist who is telling you the second one has more fire. More spread, more fire, a seemingly cleaner stone... seems a safe choice. As to value and whether I would do it in your shoes, I think you did a nice job finding two very nice stones at retail, near the 2ct mark in scale, without paying the over 2ct mark price point.

Definitely the second one. The first one is too deep and makes it face up a tiny bit smaller than the other. Always look at diameter when comparing stones. I usually limit my search to 62.3, but the 62.4 is okay.

It makes me kind of crazy when JA chooses one stone over another when I am betting you can't see the difference in performance between the two stones. But regardless, higher clarity and a slightly larger diameter would make the I VS1 the winner for me. Both Idealscopes are good. It is fabulous to get a diamond just under 2 cts, too!

First, thank you very much for the input.

I was leaning more towards to second one and I am almost positive that i will go with that one.

However, I want to be more careful because I never spent that much of money to buy something.. and I been saving nearly couple years to get that diamond.. (little by little of course).

The second diamond is selling at 17.5k and I just want to know if its safe to purchase it..

Thanks
