Big ditto to all the other responses! No rules with cushions and numbers don't tell you much anyway. By sticking religiously to any given numbers could mean you miss out on the perfect diamond, so keep an open mind and use your vendor's expertise to guide you.Date: 5/9/2008 9:55:47 PM

There aren't any rules with cushions like there are for other cuts. I ditto what was said above. Call Mark at ERD and call it a day, it will be MUCH easier than trying to learn all the intricacies of cushion cuts.

Thanks everyone for your advice. Sounds like Mark is the answer. I know he typically does he business via phone and internet, does anyone know if he can discuss in person? I live in NY, so it would be worth my while to see the stones he has.

I am more concerned with how sparkly it is. Color is important too. Does anyone know the difference between the antique and other cushion cuts? I didn''t know there is a variety. 2.5 plus would be nice.![]()
Not true neat. There are cushion modified with old world chunky flashes too.Date: 5/13/2008 9:18:42 PM

You can do MONTHS of research on the different types of cushions. Antique, cushion brilliant, cushion modified brilliant, etc.
The difference between CB and CMB is generally easy, as CMB look more like radiants with a 'crushed ice' look to them. As for antique vs. cushion b, there are literally hundreds of variations. My best suggestion is let Mark see what he can find in your size range and then USE YOUR EYES to see what you like.
