I just bought this a couple of days ago from a estate jewlery dealer and thought I share it .
Its looks different in person. The opal is estimated at 2.18 carats and the diamonds are around 1.2-1.3 carats. It came from a Jewler in Canada named OP Allan. There isn't much information on the jewler, has anyone heard of him? sorry for so many pic's. I don't know alot about opals, but my apprassor said it was a very good opal, and that it's hard to find one in an art deco mounting of that vintage. Dori

Wow! That is a fantabulous ring!

That's breathtaking, I love the pattern on it and the variety of color. There appears to be a lot of red and orange, which makes a black opal more valuable.

What a pretty opal, and the whole ring is unusual. Great buy.

Well, to tell you the truth, that is a freakin fantastic opal!! The pattern is strong and bold, even harlequin. The color seems to cover the stone from all angles. All the right colors are well represented. As T_L sed the red is quite prized in opal and make sit more valuable. Also striking in your stone is the fine balance of color and composition. It looks like a small impressionist landscape. Tres magnifique!

Gosh darnnit...that's just beautiful!

Love it.

Beautiful opal and I love the old cut diamonds around it.

That's really stunning! And being an estate piece, you probably got a good deal on it too. Win-win!

These are the pictures from the dealers website that convinced me to take a gamble on it, I,m glad I did. I never thought to buy estate jewlery before this.

Very pretty Dori. I adore pear shapes and surrounded my diamonds makes it extra yummy! Did the jeweller say whether it was solid, a doublet or triplet by any chance?

OMG! Fantastic! Wow! I love love your ring!

Congrats for this beauty! :appl:

Hi LD its a solid

That is a BEAUTIFUL opal. I am so glad it is a solid. I am currently looking (very generally, not in a rush) for a solid black opal and that is almost exactly what I hope to find. Great find!!

Now THAT'S what an opal should look like; not the garbage you see in stores today. Wear in good health Dori.

Simply gorgeous, right down from the oil painting like opal to the antique cut diamonds and settings. It's good that you did some basic homework and had it appraised independently too.

It's just lovely Dori! Congrats on your gorgeous find!

That is really fantastic! I love the old cut diamonds that surround it. Is it considered harlequin? It is absolutely lovely congrats to you. :appl: :appl:
