Hi All,
This is my first post so im sure i am going to leave out all the info you guys need.. but here goes.
I am looking to buy a emerald cut diamond.. 1-1.2 C range. It will be set in Platinum ring so i have worked out colour needs to be pretty good <F prob E.
I have been reading carefully your forums and i already have a little black book with Dave Atlas''s AGA rating guide. As a side note i love the way this rating guide upsets people trying to sell class 4 diamonds, which i have to tell you seem to be the norm in New Zealand. In fact even 4B is considered good to some jewelers here.
As you guessed I live in new Zealand, but i do travel around a bit .. so sourcing the diamond from US is no problem.
The goldsmith that is designing the ring has a diamond guy in london who has the following stone.
GIA Report No: 15269405
Emerald Cut
7.28 x 4.66 x 3.23 mm
Carat Weight: 1.00 carat
Colour: E
Clarity: VS1
Total Depth: 69.3%
Table Size: 73%
Girdle: Extremely Thin to Slightly Thick
Culet: None
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: None
Comments: None
Price quoted is NZD9,500 pre-gst, which is around 6000USD
Now after looking at Dave''s guide and reading a bit this seems to be class 3A.
I would really value comments, im not wishing to get to precious about the stone but it seems to be that if you are buying something and care about it you should try and get the best value/stone you can afford.
PS my budget is around 5000-8000USB for the stone.
