Hi,
I apologize, but it looks like I will be getting a Tiffany ring. If you can accept that as a starting point, please help me select which stone to buy from Tiffany:
Stone 1:
0.94 carat
I color
VS1
Triple Excellent
HCA number is something like 0.7, well under 2
Faint fluorescence
I did look under a loupe and saw nothing to my eye
6.31 -6.33 x 3.86mm
Stone 2:
0.91 carat
H color
VS2
Triple Excellent
HCA number is 0.9, well under 2
No fluorescence
6.26? diam (did not get the rest of the specs)
+$500 in price
Stone 1's pros: larger, better clarity. Cons: Faint fluorescence.
Stone 2's pros: better color, no fluorescence Cons: is it small for the size?
Stone 1, seems to be kind of large physically for its carat weight? Meaning, it appears bigger than most 0.94's? (Totally not sure about that)
I thought about stone 2 because essentially it has higher specs. It, on paper anyway, has no flaws. That faint fluorescence is still kind of niggling at me, as if I already got the triple excellent, so why not go for no fluorescence as well? Almost all the way. If you go to the olympics you go for the gold, no?
BUT, in an I color, would the faint fluoro actually help increase the appearance of the stone? Or is it truly inert?
I will let the community decide which one to get. Stone 1 is in house, and Stone 2 Tiffany needs to get, which means Stone 1 may be gone within just a few days' time. So there's that angle to consider.
