Thanks, everyone! Funny, I didn''t even find apatite briolettes of the shade I was looking for. I can never get out of one of those shows without something I didn''t plan on buying. I must say, though, before I found Pricescope, I''d come home with extra strands of tourmaline rondelles, or something. I never used to look at the loose gemstones!
I noticed last night -- and maybe all you sharp-eyed, more knowledgeable people could see this straight off -- there''s no table on the crown, or at least not what is usually considered a table. There is a very tiny flat facet at the top, maybe half a mm. So instead of a flat table, there''s a slight dome with eleven facets -- that teeny top facet which is a pentagon, and ten going around making a star within a pentagon. (Argh, I''m horrible at describing.) I''ve been trying to capture this with my push-here-dummy point-and-shoot camera, but can''t do it...
Anyone have any idea what this faceting pattern is called? Is there even a name? Rose-cut crowns seem to have six facets at top?
hmmm, I have close to zero knowledge about faceting patterns, but I do know that that gem you picked up is BLUE! and gorgeous! I think it would look lovely in the lotus
