I think this is the dress, but I have a question...

I know I''m not engaged quite yet, but I''ve been dress shopping and think I have found the one! I have tried it on three different times and just love it, and everything I''ve seen since doesn''t compare. If I order it, I will have the net-like overlay finished at the bottom so it isn''t so raw-looking, and I will probably change the neckline to be a little more sweetheart-esque. I would also like to be about 15 pounds lighter to avoid evidence of the tummy "pooch." However, my big question is this:

Do you think the dress could be made more full by wearing a slip? I have always envisioned my dress as more full, but I just love this one. The website calls it a "slim a-line." I thought if I wear a medium-fullness slip, it might make the dress more full? Or do you think there isn''t enough fabric to be pushed out? PilsnPinkysMom wore a slip under a dress here (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/poll-slip-or-no-slip.116297/) and I loved the look with a slip. I would probably order a slip online to try on with the dress before I order, as the store didn''t have one for me to try; any recommendations would be great, as I know next to nothing about wedding undergarments. Thanks for any opinions!

i don''t have any idea, but you could try! are there any slips in the store that you could try with it? i think the biggest concern would be the length, because a slip would make it shorter. i''m certainly no seamstress and i have never worked in a bridal store (and i know some of the ladies here have), so this is my completely unprofessional opinion :) pretty dress though!

and i don''t know your situation, so please don''t take this the wrong way, but does your boyfriend know you are dress shopping!?! very nice and calm guy if he does :) mine might have a nervous breakdown if i had my dress before getting engaged!!

I love that dress! We carry it in our store! What color are you thinking of ordering it in?

I personally like the unfinished edge with no petticoat. It looks flowy and romantic.

I would think that the extra fullness would ruin the natural line of the dress and because it''s not cut to be fuller that it will just make you look bigger. Those are my concerns about adding volume. Try it and see before buying, since you have some time I would wait. The dress doesn''t necessarily come first in the planning, though it is the most fun.

What''s the opinion of the SAs at the store? It seems to me like the dress is a bit fitted at the hip, with a slight flare. Not a true mermaid style, but it definitely doesn''t look like it poofs at the waist. A good seamstress may be able to attach crinoline to the underside of the dress to make the skirt puff out a bit more, but it doesn''t look like (from the pictures) it will puff from the waist. I don''t know that a regular slip or petticoat would work with the cut of the dress, but I guess I''d have to see it in person to be 100% sure.

So you''re after a ball-gown style poof? Not MASSIVE, but full? This dress is really pretty on you, but there are SO MANY OUT THERE... Take your time looking. This dress won''t go away... and you may find one with a similar top, a more sweetheart-ish neckline, and one that cinches at the waist and flows out from that point.

Happy shopping

I''m glad you like it! Your store was actually the first I ever went into, before I had looked hardly any, and I only tried on a few, so somehow I must''ve missed this one! I will have to come back and look. What size do you have? This is the only place I''ve found it in my size. I have seen the ivory/champagne and the ivory/ivory (what''s pictured) and I like the I/I best.

Even if the slip doesn''t work out, this will likely be my dress. I just haven''t found anything yet that compares at all. I''m not done shopping though.

I tried this dress too, and I personally preferred the finished edge, but it does still look great unfinished.

Honestly, I would skip the slip. The dress isn''t meant to be full...it''s an A line for a reason. With wedding dresses and modifications, I think its really a matter of K.I.S.S. Trust the designer, I''m sure before they put it in their line, they tried different options--and this won out.

Pils, thank you for the insight about how a slip would work; I hadn't thought about attaching crinoline to the bottom only. When I asked about a slip, the lady at the store said she didn't have any that would fit under my dress. I will ask about attaching something to the underside though.

I will certainly continue looking, as I have lots of time still.

I wore a hooped crinoline slip underneath my dress and it looked much better with it than without. Gave it a bit of fullness at the bottom that made it just right. It wouldn't hurt to try on the dress with the slip before purchasing it. I also prefer the dress with the unfinished edge.

ETA: Just saw Pilsn's suggestion about the crinoline; my slip only had crinoline from the knee down and the hoop was inserted at the very bottom.

That''s exactly what I''m thinking, just a little more fullness at the bottom. Not necessarily the whole dress, just the last 12 inches or so; I''m not in love with the way it''s laying at the bottom (especially in the first picture), and just a little more push might do the trick. Thanks for the help!

Gorgeous dress! I prefer the finished edge, its just taste and appeal to the individual I think. As for the crinoline, I tried on a few dresses that had some sewn into the bottom foot and a half, and I think this is the only thing that would work for this dress. Personally, I don''t care for crinoline, because I love the natural drape and flow of the fabric. But again, that''s just individual taste and preferences.

Here's some photos where you can see the slip/crinoline/hoop in action. It helped give the dress some oomph when I walked, and created a bit of fullness at the bottom without being overwhelming. The last photo shows the one layer of crinoline and hoop.

Wow CDN! That looks amazing! The shape of the dresses appears to be similar with regards to where it fits and flares, so I think that is exactly what I need. It is at least worth a shot. Can I ask where you purchased your underskirt? Thanks so much for chiming in!

I''m glad I''m not alone in liking the finished edge. I still think it''s pretty unfinished, but it''s more of a mental thing where I feel like they got to the end of the dress and forgot to finish it!

I thought the fit and flare of the two dresses looked similar as well. I got the underskirt at Pronovias. I hope this helps!

PS. Thought your dress looked beautiful on you!

The dress is LOVELY on you!!!!!!

Hey Summertime! That dress is divine!

I had the same issue with mine...I wanted that fullness at the bottom. But not like a ballgown. I ended up buying a mermaid crinoline for mine. You have to get extra fluffy though. The first time, I got a one tiered one and it didn''t make a bit of difference. You have to have 3 tiers or so under there. You can find them online http://www.advantagebridal.com/slfitmeslsif.html or there are a lot of girls selling them on Trash to Treasure boards and stuff like that. It''s worth a shot to try it out before your seamstress sews them in there permanently, and if you don''t like it, you are stuck. I have to warn you though...they are HOT.

We have it in a size 6 in the ivory/champagne. I love how that color combo looks ON someone, I''ve yet to see it in ivory/ivory until your pictures and it''s so beautiful.

If I were you I''d talk to you SA''s about Casablanca making minor changes. Casablanca DOES allow you to customize their dresses in small ways. Perhaps they could add to the fullness of the skirt without ruining the flowy, romantic feel of the dress?

I think the dress looks beautiful on you. I dont even mind the unfinished overshirt (usually that would bother me).
Plus it fits you like a glove!

I had my dress before we were engaged. I used to think that was stupid, but we had been designing my ring for a few weeks and I knew it was coming :) I found a great deal and jumped on it!

Your dress is lovely. It never hurts to try many on though.

Are you getting married in the summer? I decided against the crinoline due to the weather. I think they look wonderful but I didn''t want to be too hot at my august wedding.

I don''t have any suggestions regarding the slip but just wanted to say it''s a beautiful dress!

I thought about this, as I am going to have the neckline and hemline altered, but I am afraid of changing the dress too much, so I was thinking about a slip.

Does anyone have an opinion on this?

How about this?

Or maybe this?

I figured you had the 6; I have only found one place in OK with anything but a 6, and luckily it came close to fitting.

I really liked the I/C too, but I like the I/I just a tad better!

Thanks for the tip, Lanie! I''m really unsure about what type of slip would be best. Our wedding will be next June, with an outdoor reception, so I would hate to be uncomfortably hot. Maybe a hoop skirt would be less hot, but still give the same effect?

Thanks tyty! I just can''t get it out of my head. It''s not what I would have predicted I would choose, but I''m okay with that. If anything, I think I will feel even more special on the big day.
