I think I'm going to buy this engagement ring - thoughts?

Re: I think I'm going to buy this engagement ring - thoughts

Hi!

If you're interested in PSer's opinions of the stone and setting, ask the moderator to move this to Rocky Talky, another forum. You will also need to provide more information, such as a specs, and/or copy of the GIA/AGS or other lab report, purchase price, etc.

Good luck!

Will do, thanks!

Do you like the fact the cushion has a severe crushed ice effect?

Re: I think I'm going to buy this engagement ring - thoughts

Yeah, I compared it in the store to a number of diamonds about the same size with a more symmetrical/uniform look and this thing definitely out-shined them all.

Did it happen to come with a report, or do you have any other info like the dimensions, color, cut grade etc.? That info might help us provide more feedback. =)

What lab graded it?

Did you see it in any lighting other than the super-sparkly jewelry store lighting? Like, did you take it near a window, shade it with your hand, etc? That is necessary to do with diamonds because the lighting in jewelry stores is designed to make them sparkle way more than they will in at least 90% of lighting situations you'll be in.

If you haven't seen it in natural light, you may want to before purchase. You will be SHOCKED by the difference in sparkle in store lighting vs. natural lighting. I like to call store lighting, "make your ring look perfect" lighting.

Here's the info on the ring I just got from the store, hopefully it helps!

The ring is an 18k white gold setting with 0.41ctw of diamonds. The center diamond is a 2.06ct G color SI2 clarity. The diamond has Very Good Polish and Symmetry. It measures 7.76 x 7.40 x 4.39. There are no Fluorescence.

Great advice. I'll be seeing it outside on Monday.

I think it's a nice design, but make sure you do your homework on the center diamond. You got good advice above. For a G, I'd expect it to be brighter.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't think the camera does it justice. There's so much light coming off that diamond compared to any of the others I was looking at. They were all in the 2 carat range between 20-28k for the center stone.
