Is this an excellent diamond? Will the sparkle blind you? Is the color an issue being an "I"?

THANKS

Looks good to me from the numbers. Do you by chance have idealscope images or an ASET, pictures, anything to verify? And I don''t think the I is an issue personally...

No i do not, blue nile does not provide that

But you think Im doing "good" with this? something to be proud of? Lol

You are doing very well so far! I would say it''s certainly worth it to check it out in person.

Yes, more than likely it will be absolutely gorgeous. And without a doubt it will be more blinding than 90% of the stones you see on a daily basis. Under ONE condition. THAT SHE KEEPS IT CLEAN!!!! Do the girl a favor and buy her an ultrasonic cleaner too.

Rick,
If you want "blinding", I''ll suggest looking into a H&A cut round, of if you really want to blind her, check into Solasfera''s at Good Old Gold. I just got one from there last week and it is UNREAL!

Looks promising to me.

It sounds like a really nice diamond.

GIA Excellent is similar an AGSL Ideal. Different people have different opinions on their strictness levels of grading. I''m sure you can find that information by searchin GIA vs AGSL.

I don''t think you can go wrong with either GIA EX or AGSL ID. The best cut will give you the best light performance.
I wonder if you can get a brillianscope report on it.

When you''re decided, you can blind us with pictures

BTW, I don''t think that an I color is an issue. If the professional PSers thinks it''s a great diamond and you think it''s THE ONE, the by all means go for it. You''ve put a lot of effort into this. My guy didn''t go this far - but that''s because I basically commandeered the project (hee hee)

. No matter what you choose, she''s gonna love it!

I can''t help you on the diamond, but I just wanted to say that I love the fact that you are just so excited! It comes through in your posts.

With the guidance here, you will end up with something gorgeous. Someone said to get her an ultrasonic cleaner...I totally agree! You might also want to buy her sunglasses because the diamond will be blinding!

I can''t wait to see what you decide to get!

Thank you so much!! I BOUGHT IT LAST NIGHT!!

Looks good!!!!!! Pics when you get it please!

WOOHOO! That''s wonderful! Can''t wait to see pics soon!

That is very expensive, maybe you should try DOW. It is Diamonds on web.com I got my diamond there and they are just wonderful! I got a 1.51 first and I took it to a local jeweler and he was AMAZED that I got it for 10,000!!!

I trust GIA all the way. The other grading companies are hit or miss when it comes to their diamond grading!!!

odd statement... I think most people here would trust AGS more than GIA... ;)

Hi there,

I see you got some spanish going on in your signature... I speak spanish also.

Now, to the diamond in question. I own a diamond with the same crown and pavillion angles and it's gorgeous ( to me).
This combo is one of Strmdr all time favs... So if strmdr likes it....

I had an opportunity to see the diamond in person and use an idealscope ( to check for light leakage) before purchase so it put my mind at ease. I also bought it from one of the PS vendors who is known for his great eye for diamonds so another assurance there.

However, in your case, since blue nile does not provide further reports, I would have it seen by an independent appraiser before the return period, just to be on the safe side. Also, I just wanted to point out that I don't think Blue Nile has an upgrade policy.

Couple things:

Do you know the lgf%? When I was given advice on my diamond I was told that for this combo to work you need a long Lgf ( 80% ).

I agree, this combo might be more prone to getting dirty . Not a big detriment to me as I like to clean my ring everyday. So, tell your girl to keep it clean as neatfreak told you.

You are doing good so far...

ETA: "I" color is not generally an issue, unless you are color sensitive, meaning you can pick hues or shades of color easily. A well cut diamond would usually look spectacular at this color range. It helps to see some stones in person to see if you can pick up on this.
and trust me it would be blinding... I don't think the outside world cares as much about cut as we do here on PS. So, aided by the advice here you will certainly do better than most of the folks shopping for diamonds out there.

thanks again, it comes on Wednesday morning. However, I am strating to wonder about the perks that go with buying a ring from a B&M.....do they out weigh, in your opinion, the extra cost?

thanks,

rick

P.S. I post pics as soon as i can

In my opinion, I don''t think the perks offered by a B&M store warrant the price premium.
However, it is always a good idea to establish a relationship with a reputable local jeweler in order to have someone available to do maintenance on the ring, i.e polishing, checking the prongs for safety and so on. Maybe a family member or friend can recommend someone for you. If not, check on the resources tab above - Local jewelers , for a listing of vendors in your area.

Grats on your puchase, how exciting!!

As far as buying from a B&M, I wish i had someone local that I could trust and has the same upgrade policies that the vendors here offer. I wouldn''t mind paying a "little" extra to a B&M just for piece of mind, and ease if something went wrong.

Sna77- I trust GIA more than AGS as far as color grading goes. I spoke to my appraiser about it and he mentioned that GIA seems to be the most consistant from what he''s seen.

I do object to this statement. Where GIA is reliable, AGS is clearly stricter.

Not only in cut, where the area of GIA-EX is about 3 times as wide as AGS-Ideal.

But also in grading of color and clarity. Our production always goes to AGS, and what we estimate a value of 100K, returns after AGS''s strictness on color and clarity as a value of between 93 and 96K.

Every now and then, part of our goods get GIA-grading, and in that case, our estimated value of 100K returns based upon GIA-grading a value between 99 and 102K.

Live long,

I'm comfortable with GIA's clarity, color, polish & symmetry grading. When it comes to cut I feel as you do Paul and while AGS does have a narrower guideline for their cut parameters I don't not find it to be a flawless system either. Personally I like the more conservative elements of both systems.

Just a side note - excellent is not always ideal. AGS Ideal are stricter than GIA excellent, so some GIA excellents score porrly on the HCA. If you are looking for a true Ideal stone - always look for AGS 000 stones - Good old gold H&A or WF ACA lines are both stunning lines when looking for the top ideal cut stones.

Do you think that my stone, then, is not as good as it could be? Also, we were at **Tiffanys** , not my favorite place but I would say I LOVED the sales people that showed us around plus they do have excellent marketing, and those stones sparkeled so much, I want that....I hope I get it. LOL

Hey everyone,
I get the actual ring tomorrow, but have another question. I am sure that it comes in a nice presetnation box, but I was looking for something a little ore unique, antique, or different. Any suggestions?

thanks''
