This blown-up photo shows visible inclusions on the side. I'm thinking that I can just hide that with one of the setting's prongs.

Should I take the plunge on this one?

Looks fantastic! =)

Did they say that the inclusion was visible to the naked eye? I'd be very surprised and your right, a prong should cover it.

Awesome! That is a really good price, and a perfect SI1 in my book. I really really like SI level stones where the grade maker is a single larger inclusion off to the side that can be hidden by a prong. Out of sight, out of mind.

Ok, so I have Christina's approval. Still need to hear from diamondseeker, gypsy and 2023 8-)

It says "Additional clouds and graining lines not shown" can you get Barry's take on what that means? Is it in house and he can check it out and advise you? otherwise - KICK ASS stone, Fife!

Looks great to me. Price is nice and it's an H, which is great. And the inclusion, if visible at all, is totally prongable. As long as it's not going in a tension setting, I think ti's a fabulous choice. :appl:

Yes, but you people made me feel horrible about myself for buying a 5.5 HCA GIA-XXX so I invoked Excel's return policy. Excel has really taken care of me.

Don't you feel awesome now for getting a great diamond? :) I'm glad you returned it and upgraded!

Yes, actually. I'll sleep better at night knowing that there's no controversy between GIA, AGL, and HCA about whether or not the proportions are good. Even if it is only psychological, and the diamond doesn't even look any better, I won't have that nagging thought in the back of my mind. I'll now be just as happy as I was before I learned about this website ;))

I'm still needing Diamondseeker's comment

Fife, the diamond looks beautiful and the price even looks a bit better than your last purchase?

You have done so much research looking at cut and even looking at colour differences between labs etc. Its funny how you said that you felt bad after reading too much and even though you may not even notice a difference you can sleep better...I think thats what a lot of people mean when they say the difference between 'mind' clean and 'eye' clean.

CONGRATULATIONS and enjoy :)) and plan the wedding and honeymoon! And proposal!!!

PS can be a curse and a blessing in that regard however, you'll never be sorry for buying a very well cut stone. The sparkle never wears off - ha!

It looks beautiful - congrats on your find!!

You have grown and learned a lot Fife and now, you have chosen the best diamond for your lady love - congratulations on the whole experience! I'm sure DS will be proud of you! :appl:

Thanks for the nice words everybody! I'm pretty sure I'll know right away if I can see a difference. When it arrives I'll be sure to take more pics and maybe a vid for you!

I asked because the diamond you have posted in this thread -- the AGS image and the close up photo showing the inclusion -- is the exact same as the one you posted in your other thread :read: Not the linked stone, but the images you uploaded.

Hm. I didn't post in your other thread, but looking at your other diamond I am not sure you will see much difference between it and this second one you selected in person. The HCA is just one tool to use to select diamonds, GIA's cut grade is another, and an ideal scope yet another. Also your eyes. The HCA is a good rejection tool but since GIA rounds its measurements, and the HCA is only as good as the numbers you input. Anyways, I think perhaps an expert really well versed in diamonds *might* be able to detect a very subtle difference between the other stone and this new one. But the comparison is not a great stone to a dog. I say this all to warn you so you are not expecting a night and day difference. This new stone cost less, though, so no matter what that is a win.

Ah - the photos were different. This new set of photos i uploaded for this thread had identical names to the ones in that thread (01.jpg; 02.jpg; 03.jpg). Now when you look at my old thread, it replaces some of those images with these new ones. Website glitch.

Still - I'm not expecting night & day differences. I did look at that old diamond a lot and in different lighting conditions. If this diamond is any better, I will be able to tell. I'm specifically looking to see if it performs well around the edge. I will let you know what I discover!
