I see the views increasing but no comments.....Is this one of those cases where if ya don''t have anything positive to say--so oyu say nothing at all?

from your other post, I thought you were talking about rounds, fancy cut are a little more challenging without Ideal scope and Asset images. You also don't have the specs, So my best would be to go to an independent appraiser to help determine whether these were worth what you bought them for? let me find your other thread so others know what I am talking about.

ETA:

The earrings looks pretty, what do you think of them? have you looked at them in many different lighting conditions? How do you think they look?

Thanks for your help D&T...as well as your feedback...

I do have an appt with a local jewler to have them appraised on Monday...It''s worth my sanity... It will take a few days to get the "official" written report BUT I will get an idea of his findings that day

PS the only light I have looked at them in is...the store, natural daylight, and my bathroom...

do you see nice fire (rainbow flashes) readily? scintillation(combo of fire/brillance when moving about?) or mostly just brillance - sorry this is just a short test.

OK I''ll "play" but I need some help....should I take them off to look? My current lighting is my ceiling fan...and I am sitting under it in the bed but don''t have a mirror near...

If you dont mind...gve me step by step instructions as to how I can answer your question and I will...

Thanks again,

I''m not sure if you have gone through this tutorial about fire/brillance/scintillation but just in case... but really images of diamond and specs would be able to tell a lot, glad you''re getting the appraisal done

And the highligted below I thought was interesting but I haven''t tried it myself

Bright, Bright lighting will make even the worse cut diamond sparkle while burning out your retinas, but truly well cut diamonds don''t need to be pumped full of light to perform exceptionally. The late great Rock Doc (Graduate Gemologist Bill Lieberman) used to like to take a diamond into a dark closet and run a lit match around the perimeter by a foot or so to determine how well the diamond would perform when practically starved for light... I don''t believe that Sarap''s concern involved the visual performance of her Infinity cut diamond, but rather the effect that the store lighting had upon the color of her M color diamond which apparently did not mesh well with the blue dichromatic filters employed by the jewelry store in their lighting scheme.

I haven't tried it either. . . just need to go buy some matches. I wonder if a lighter works just as well?

Oh, and I was also thinking RB. It''s hard to determine a fair price when you''re speaking of another cut than what we''re all concluding.

Yeah, funny thing is I''ve been working up my inventory for my renter''s insurance. Probably should get that in order before playing around!!!

I fell asleep last night b4 the comments but now I am up....I plan to read that link, do the closet test (all I have is a lighter too--so I hope that will suffice), and "report"my findings..

Oh and sorry for not mentioning they were princess cut...I''m a newbie....what can I say...

Ok I read it...but trust me it was like reading from a law library! LOL I went into the closet-with my lighter too--still jsut as confused as before..

Oh well...if I can find a jewler to appraise today I will....if not I''ll have to wait until Monday...Then I will (hopefully) be

Don''t worry it just takes time to learn all the variables in a diamond. If you love it- you have seen it, which you have in your possession, that is all that matters but in any case, do have a splendid time in Hawaii!

Well just an update....

Had them appraised 2day and they were NOT what they were represented to be. They were more I/J VS2 and I/J SI1 (2)

I called the store immediatly and informed the manager. She called the distributor and called me back...we have been going back & forth about the issue and they plan on getting me a new pair--CERTIFIED--and with the rating that I was told I would have F VS2..they will be coming in the next couple of weeks from Isreal --the owner is there now.

I am glad that I invested in the appraisal and will pick up the offical written report tomorrow....

I am truly shocked this happened--since I was dealing with a national store...

You all have ben VERY helpful! When I get these would it be wise to get another appraisal OR can I take the certification as proof that they are what they claim to be?

Thoughts/Advise?

How much are you having to spend on appraisals? And if the first ones were not as represented how can you trust the second pair?

I paid $150 for yesterdays appraisal. Should I have Zales pay for the 2nd apprasial? These will be certified--so I''m not sure it would be necessary--which is why I am asking.

They have a no refund policy--and exchange only within 15 days of purchase... The manager is not fighing me on the exchange because the company (dealer) does not have a comperable product that they can currently send me.

I would imagine that they want as LITTLE friction now as possible becasue if they were to AGAIN misrepresent the stones I would not be as nice about it---especially since these are being sold as certified---I feel certian I would have grounds for a lawsuit & I doubt the company wants that type of press over a 2k pr of stones.

I would think that Zales themselves might even verify the stones PRIOR to selling them to me for the simple fact that I just might have them appraised again...

Lovely!

Well they are nice but not what I thought I was getting...

when you say they are certified.. id make sure they are certified by GIA or AGS and not certified by zales diamond experts or something. lol

good luck!
