We have over 200 people coming, we are doing a champagne toast, 1 free beer keg and then a cash bar...

Am I crazy in thinking that we will probably need to upgrade to 2 kegs? I don''t want to piss my parents off...and I also don''t want people leaving just because the booze isn''t free...I pushed for an open bar to start with but it just wasn''t financially feasible because we had to invite alllllll these people I''ve never met in my life.

Thanks in advance

ummm definitely not crazy that does not sound like nearly enough alcohol.

Not enough if your friends/family drink like mine do!

Adding one more keg at the cost of less than $100 is not terribly expensive. Maybe try a cheaper beer if you''re having a nicer keg as the other one? I''m sure your guests will appreciate a little bit more free booze, but if it''s not feasible, I don''t think people will up and leave.

I agree that one keg is not enough for that many people, but if you guys aren''t having an open bar and only a cash bar then one keg is fine. I guess I''m trying to say what''s the point of making sure there are 2 kegs when it''s only going to be beer that is provided. Maybe you should just have the champagne toast only included and do a cash bar. Do whatever you want to do! :)

It''s your day! I personally would have an open bar but I''m doing a destination wedding to avoid all the headaches!!! :) I hope you have an amazing wedding though girlie. If people don''t think a cash bar is good enough F ''em!!!!

Adding to the stress- I was originally told bridal party''s drinks would be completely paid for, as in, an open bar for the wedding. Now I find out that we are getting 200 dollars in drink tickets for the bridal party...which means 3 drinks for each person in the bridal party including fi and myself? Am I being totally irrational for getting worked up about that? I mean that is just ridiculous!

No, you are not being irrational. It sounds to me like they are trying to get you to change your mind to having an open bar. Maybe they were assuming you would end up changing your mind, and when you didn''t they added the drink ticket rule. That''s bull girlie!!!

It wasn''t the hotel that told us that...it was our parents who changed it and didn''t bother to tell us..

No, you need another keg...or three!

People don''t always bring money to a wedding unless they know going into it that it''s a cash bar. So, if they want to drink--but don''t bring money--then they will survive on beer.

I think, depending on your bridal party, three drinks each would be fine..keep in mind everyone in the party is usually very busy.

Is there any way you could swing some wine? Bottles on the table would save you needing a bunch of kegs more...

A 15 gallon keg only holds 164 servings. So people would only get 1 beer, some people wouldn''t get any.

Uh, yeah, another keg is definitely needed.

Sorry to hear it was your parents who switched things! Annoying!!!!! Thanks for the heads up, right? Good luck with everything. Keep your head up.

Oh also are your parents paying for everything? I think you mentioned they were inviiting people you don''t even know. Well then they should fork out the extra money for the alcohol. Not to sound mean but if it were just people you wanted there that you actually know then you probably would have been able to afford an open bar.

Ditto. That was my thought exactly. If only to make sure everyone can get at least one beer!

I think you need more beer also!

This sums it up. More beer is needed.

If your goal is to give your guests a little something extra without breaking the bank, perhaps you could have a cocktail hour that is open bar or at least free beer and wine at cocktail hour?

I''m just thinking how it would be from a guest perspective to go to the bar at the beginning of dinner and not be charged for my beer and then return after dinner and get charged. I would be mighty confused.

well the good news is that we are getting another keg :)

For some who may be confused, dinner and dancing is pretty laid back in north dakota, most places here don''t hold cocktail hours ;) it''s usually dinner, speeches, bars open and dancing

Ahhh okay - things are a little different on the East Coast - depending, of course, on who''s wedding you are at

We needed the cocktail hour to entertain the guests while we do pictures. Late October in New England I couldn''t bank on glorious weather to take photos prior to the ceremony. Thank goodness I planned for cocktail hour because the forecast for Saturday isn''t looking too pretty and rather than being able to use that hour to mingle with guests it looks like I will be off taking photos.

Hmmm... maybe ridiculous, but ultimately those who pay can do as they please. Some ''free'' alcohol is better than none, at least! I''m glad you were able to negotiate getting keg #2, though!
