Hi all,
I am upgrading my e-ring. Woo-hoo! I need your help finding an excellent cut, fiery, delicious 2ct (or 1.9) oval. My budget is 15k or less. I need F or G colour, or a really white H, good SI1. My eyeclean is no black inclusions at all, very difficult to see other inclusions at 3 inches. It will be going between two F VS1 .45 ct (each) sides.
I know this is a big ask for my budget, but I've seen you work magic before. :D
I have looked all over the net but do not feel I have enough knowledge to make a good choice online. Like a girl looking for the right guy, I need some friends to introduce me to 'the one'.

I am happy to look for you on JA. If this were ME? I'd be on the phone with Mark at Engagement Rings Direct for this, he's got a great eye and finds amazing diamonds (tell him minimal bow tie, added to your criteria).

Nothing on JA. You know with ovals carat weight doesn't matter as much as dimensions right? A 2 carat oval that is cut deep can have the same dimensions as a 1.7 that is shallower.

Here's the only diamond on JA worth a second look http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS1-Very-Good-Cut-Oval-Diamond-1514667.asp there just isn't a lot of selection for 1.7 and above and under 15k.

Try Perry Chen at Leon Mege as well.

THIS ONE FITS THE BILL (and is likely to be eyeclean)!!!!! Get an ASET image if eyeclean and let's see it!!! (Look at that spread though, it's only a small bit larger at two carats than the 1.6 I posted for you, so put that one on hold too and get an ASET of it as well).

These are two terrible scanner pictures of my current ring with a .95ct (ish) centre. I like this length to width ratio. These side diamonds will be the ones on the new ring.

Holy crap Gypsy, you are a machine! I'm going to check these out right away. Thank you! :appl:
Thank you also for the reminder about the face up size. I want the biggest spreadiest 2ct I can get without it being all shallow and light leaky. So when I look at it, it goes "POW! I am huge!"

OK, those aren't quite the right shape and are too deep. I like an oval that's not too fat or too thin. The goldilocks oval. :sun:
After going over these posted stones plus everything else I can get my hands on, I'm a bit discouraged. I think this might take a while. Boo hoo!
Should I just contact a vendor and let them sort it out? Who is the best for fancy shapes? I know you said Mark at ERD, Gypsy. Do others concur? I don't want to contact several vendors and have them all searching for the same thing when they all have access to the same databases. Or am I out to lunch? :(

I suggest calling Mark. Or Perry Chen. Not both.

But I've gotta tell you.
If you need special measurements. In an oval. That performs well. Is eyeclean. Is H or better. Hits 1.8 carats or better. AND is 15k or less. You are probably going to be waiting a long time. Either the measurements need to give, or the budget. Cause I don't think you are going to find what you want unless you chance one of those.

Thank you Gypsy, I appreciate your help. Maybe the colour has to give, or I will cross my fingers and wait a while for one if those rare SI's that don't show from the top. I don't mind waiting. Off to make calls tomorrow! :D

So, I might have found a good one. I'm not posting a link because I don't want it poached.
What do I ask the vendor for besides pictures, a video, and an ASET? :read:
I really wish I could go see it in person!

Well depending on the vendor, they may or may not be able to provide you with any of that. And if you 'picked' it without a picture then you might not want to get your hopes up. :wink2:

Hi Gypsy,

I always love to see your posts, it's like a cute cat is giving me great diamond advice. :D

The vendor is whiteflash.

I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, but this is all so very exciting. I got talked out of my dream engagement ring all those years ago by another vendor, and now the dream is becoming a reality! I already have my two little fancy blues on their way (why delivery is not instantaneous after I buy something I really want, I don't know) and if this one works out, I may even get my ring in time for our anniversary! Happy dance! :)) :D

I may be wrong but I don't think WF does videos. But it never hurts to ask.

Fingers crossed for you!!!
