Hi,

This is going to be my first good size diamond and I am very excited. However; I am not sure if I am choosing a great one with a great price.
I tend to notice the inclusions with a naked eye, so we decided to not go below a VS2. In store I haven't been able to tell the difference between a G and an F color. So here is what the GIA report says about the one I found.

Measurements:5.31x5.25x3.87mm
Carat Weight: 0.92
Color Grade: G
Clarity Grade: VS1
Depth: 73.7%
Table: 73%
Girdle: Thin to Thick
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Clarity characteristics: Feather, cloud.

Asking price for this diamond is $3,775.

Any and every opinion will be highly appreciated.
Thank you so much.

No way to tell with just number for a fancy cut. Need images, preferably an ASET image.

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

Try doing some searches on here for Princess cut stones and ASET and Ideal Scope images.....So many Princess diamonds are duds and its not possible to know just by looking at the numbers. You will see what i mean if you start looking at the ASET/Ideal Scope images. You dont want a diamond if it doesnt perform well. Most respectful vendors can supply you w/theses images upon request but I would do a little research 1st so you know what you are looking for. I was in your boat about a month or so ago and I found Pricescope to be a God-send!!!! Good luck :-)

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

I do not have any images of it. I only have the GIA certificate. But I have just taken a few pictures of it with the setting I picked. However my laptop's camera is probably not the best one to use but I hope they might help.

Thank you so much.

Ohhh,It's beautiful. I didnt realise you already have it. Seeing a diamond with your eyes is the BEST test. Does it appeal to you? Have you been able to se it in different lighting? (B&M stores have lighting that make EVERYTHING sparkle so keep that in mind). Can you take it to an independent appraiser (someone that has YOUR best interest in mind)? Regardless, If you like it, that is all that matters (regardless of what a peice of paper says).

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

Thank you so much. Yes, I got the ring. I really like the sparkle and I think I made the right decision by choosing a simple setting, because I really wanted the center stone to shine more than the setting. I guess I am just trying to make sure that my purchase was a good one, and kind of got stuck with that comment about the extra characteristics: feather, cloud.
Thank you so much again.

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

So why is it that "feather, cloud" mentioned on the certificate ? Are these extra inclusions or have they already affected the clarity of this diamond being VS1? Are these a big deal on a VS1 or not?

Sorry everyone, I am really confused with all these 4 C's .

Thanks.

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

They are included in the VS1 grade, and are not a big deal.

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

Thank you all so much. I feel better now. You all have been very helpful. :)

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

The stone looks quite pretty and sparkly from the photos. We would need clearer close-up images and preferably an ASET to comment on the cut quality, but I'd say you got yourself a pretty nice rock.

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

Beautiful! I love the setting. Is it one ring?, I am assuming it is 1. It looks as though it is a setting with a wedding band on each side. Will you wear another band with it?

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

Thank you all for your help. I came to the conclusion that this was a great purchase and I am enjoying my ring.

About the setting; originally it was a setting with wedding bands on each side. But I asked them to combine all three so that I wouldn't worry about fixing them all the time which drives me crazy. ;)...

On a different note, this place gave me a little piece of mind with their lifetime warranty and upgrade options for both the setting and the center stone. It feels good to know that I can always upgrade without losing any money.

Thank you all once again for your help. I am sure you are going to hear from me a lot as this diamond thing is becoming my new obsession. LOL..

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

Ok here are two more pictures I tried to take but looks like I am not very talented or need a better camera. Anyway, I hope these give a better idea although there might be some reflections on the stone. Thanks.

From one Princess lover to another---Welcome to Pricescope! I recently found it too (my ring will be ready today :D ). And we have the same initials (LBB)....
Be careful, hanging out here too long will put a BIG dent in your wallet!!! :naughty:

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

Thanks lbbaber. You are right I have to be careful. And promise I will. By the way I can't wait to see your ring. Waiting for pictures. ;) Take care.

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

OK I think this is the picture of your new ring lbbaber. It is beautiful!!!!!!.. I love the setting also. Halo and princess cut look lovely together. Enjoy it. :)

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

awww, thank you :-) Here's the thread in SMTB w/more pics: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-whiteflash-preview-amphora-princess-halo.158304/ I cant stop looking at it!!! Now its time to find a WB. My plan is for a band on either side just like yours:-) I am debating getting the melee in the wb slightly larger than the e-ring. Just slightly though. I also have a pair of diamond hoops being made that I saw another PSer purchase recently. They should be ready next week. (See what I mean about PS being dangerous-lol) Thanks again for the compliment!!!

upgraded my setting..

Ok, lbbaber was right.. I guess this diamond thing is an obsession and I think I have it, too.. I haven't touched my center stone, but I did upgrade my setting. Found one that is similar to my first setting except this one has 5 rows of diamonds instead of 3, and two of those rows are princess cuts. ( round, princess, round, princess, and round.) But then after choosing this setting, I decided to add a halo around the center diamond (thanks to lbbaber), I really love it now. Please feel free to tell me what you think, as I have 60 days for a return or exchange... I know these are really bad pictures but I thought they might give an idea however they don't do justice to the ring.

Thanks..

Re: I need your input about a princess cut diamond I have fo

If you really want honest opinions, I've got to say I prefer your first setting. It was more simple and classic. I think the new setting kind of dwarfs your stone a bit.

BUT you say you love it, so if you like it better than your original one, ignore me!
