Yeah, I wouldn't like it if it happened to me...but at the same time, you did give her pretty close specs and there isn't a patent on your three rings as a whole? I'm really sorry that this happened, no matter what. It's a tough situation all around and I don't blame you for feeling slighted. Wow. At the same time, she didn't do anything inherently wrong...and there have been similar stories here on PS...it's not that you should've known better at all...I wish that people who were looking to copy would ask first but that is really too much to ask of them, I think! Very difficult situation. Kama, I love your rings and I hope you don't change your love for them because of this. They are unique to you and your husband because they were first yours and your style. Someone else loved your style enough to recreate them and here you go. Hugs.

Yup, you pretty much outlined my train of thought, Monnie. She definitely didn't do anything wrong, and I truly want her to be in love with her set. I feel bad for feeling bad about this trivial issue. And to be honest, if I had to press rewind, I still would not have hesitated in helping her get her rings. So I don't exactly know where that leaves me?

I definitely will never stop loving my rings, they are too special to me. And I know I will get over her copying them, but it honestly really felt good to be able to share my thoughts here on PS and to read what all you wonderful ladies had to say. She loves her rings and I am happy for her.

Hi KAMALAMADINGDONG!

I think the only solution to this problem is making your set unique again by adding to it. Time for a new stacker!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Where's that "like" button?

:appl:

It would definitely bug me, but I agree with Hudson Hawk - get a new stacker (and just don't show it to your friend  )

1) Yes, you definitely need a new stacker. Colored stones, perhaps?

2) I definitely understand where you're coming from. It would be weird if one of my friends IRL got the exact same wedding set I have, and I would feel at least a little irked about it (even though my set isn't custom). Like you, I'd probably never say anything, but it would bug me.

Ditto to both!

The strangest thing to me is that your friend didn't even think twice about copying your set exactly! Who does something like that?!

Guh...crappy situation but I bet you'll be more over it in a month or two. And I bet all your mutual friends will also think it's weird she copied your set...I know I would!

Severe irk. I have no issues with someone online having replicas of everything I have-- or even someone in my real life that I see once in a blue moon if that. But my ENTIRE wedding set in real life... down to the last detail by someone who is my close friend? Irk. Definite Irk.

Plus one.

On the up side.... at least all your mutual friends would know that she copied your set because you had it first!

HI:

Great excuse for a reset--or get a radiant and since everyone dislikes that shape so, no one will ever copy it!

JK, of course: it is annoying. I am with the others and suggest adding to your set. Switch bands out--keep her guessing!

cheers--Sharon

I think the big thing that strikes me about this is how lame *she* is for wanting to just copy someone else's set like that to the last detail. If you had a plain solitaire, well whoopsie do so does everyone else. But I do think your set is unique in Canada, at least based on what I see, so it is funny she just outright copied it. How lame! ETA: It is lame because she sees you all the time. If you are stangers on PS then I don't think copying is a big deal at all, but I would not do it when I knew the person!

I don't have a unique looking set, but when I rest my ring one day into my dream setting, *then* it will be unique and if someone I knew well copies it I will think that they are looney.

For the non-diamond obsessed this probably seemed like no big. If you had a set from Tiffany, 6 prong with matching knife-edge band, you'd probably run into a few people with an identical set. Yours happens to be personal and carefully selected, but for "normal" people it probably seems like lots of people have pretty much identical sets as others, so what's the big deal. She probably doesn't even realize it could be seen as odd.

That sucks! I'm sorry to hear this. It seems like she i) doesn't have much imagination; and ii) loves your set so much (who wouldn't, it's beautiful) that she just wants the exact same thing.

Having said all that though, I have to tell you something funny: My BFF whom I love very much was introduced to Tiffany and specifically Tiffany Lucida by me, chose a Lucida for her engagement ring; and I'm totally thrilled for her abt that. When I wanted to purchase a Lucida later though, she was visibly uncomfortable, even at the idea. She's never acknowledged that it was I who introduced it to her. So I let the whole thing drop altogether. Ya' know, I want her to be happy, her friendship means a whole lot more to me. I know it's not quite the same thing, but you get the idea. Just my 2 cents....

I remember what this type of set is called ... "the Kate Beckinsale"! But I guess that's stating the obvious.....
