Hello guys after reading over your posts and educating myself, I've decided to request your expertise. I'm looking for 2ct round shape diamond. my budget is $12000 or less. Im trying to get the best stone my budget can buy. Would like something that is eye clean. I really need your help!!!!Thanks in advance
:loopy:

In that budget, it will be a fancy shape like asscher, oval, cushion, radiant, marquise or something other than round. You might want to look at some photos of different cuts to get a preference. Has she given you any ideas?

I agree. If your set on a RB, then with your budget your looking at a 1.5-1.75. If you go larger than 1.5ct than you're probably going to be looking at J SI2. There isn't anything wrong with a J color, so long as you've seen it in person and it appeals to you. Some people are color sensitive to body color, some aren't, it's personal preference. It's possible to find a good SI2, but it will take a lot more searching to find an eye clean one, especially as the size of the stone increases. The most important thing to consider is the cut of the diamond, you will want to view only GIA ex or AGS ideal stones. The cut determines the beauty of the diamond. Stay away from labs like EGL, they are notorious lenient in their grading and you will end up paying more for your diamond than for it's GIA or AGS equivalent.

Have you considered the second hand market?

Your stone scores well on the HCA, however it's a different type of stone visually than other more typical ideal cuts. It's a 60/60 which means that you have a larger table and shallower pavilion, this particular stone also has a shallow crown angle, this combination can sometimes lead to obstruction (shadow of the head and body) and the stone looking dark when viewed up close. It's also an SI2, the twining wisps are all close to the girdle, although don't appear to be touching it from the plot (although you can't tell much about the inclusions from the plot) so it should be checked for an durability issues. In some cases twining wisps can be a preferable inclusion to have since they can be difficult to see, however sometimes, they can interfere with the brilliance of the stone, so it's important to have it evaluated as well. The report is also showing a surface reaching natural on the outside region of the table, this needs to be checked to. I dont know much about the durability risk of such an inclusion at that location, but I'm sure someone else will mention it.

The thing is, BN doesn't have these stones in front of them to evaluate for you. When you ask that it be checked for eye cleanliness they simply call the dealer holding the stone and ask for his opinion, since he wants to sell his diamond, his opinion is likely going to be favorable. It's also impossible to get IS or Aset images of the stone from BN to see if the diamond has any leakage issues.

What you could do is contact ID Jewelers and give them the report number and ask them to call the stone in for you. They can then photograph the diamond and do IS images and evaluate it for you. They will also beat BN price! =)

Oddly enough, I came across this 2.3ct J SI1 today:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/9399/

Scores 2.6 on the HCA, so as they say... worth buying if the price is right. If you click reserve on the GOG website you will see the price in your cart, and its right under your $12K budget.

This is an EGL graded stone, so don't bet that it's a SI1 J, Jonathon listed the colorimeter on the stone as an N, so I can only assume that he agrees with this assessment. If your interested though, you should call and talk to Jon about it, he does a great job of giving you all the information that you would need to make an informed decision.

Its a nice stone, but I would like to stick with gia or ags certified stones. I need that peace of mind. Thanks for all of your help. I guess the search continues...... :loopy:
