I have been looking for a 8 mm or 9 mm green sapphire. I also love any light green, or teal colors and was looking at spinel. So far I have not had any luck. I want something fairly hard so I dont have to worry about banging it up. If anyone has any Ideas please let me know. Thanks

What shape and price range?

For light green sapphire I think you should consider taking a look at Montana sapphires. They have a really nice lighter green color if it is untreated, that size might take a little bit to find though.

Also look into vanadium chrysoberyl - it''s harder than spinel, quite brilliant and not too expensive (ajsgems.com has some).

Would green tourmaline be too soft for your liking? Barry from acstones.com has some lovely green tourmalines available and I love his chunky cutting style.

Will you consider a green grossular garnet or tsavorite? They are softer than a sapphire but does green colour a lot better.

I think thats a little to lime for me. Thanks for the input.

Have you though about Green Zircons ?
With hardness of 7.5 its harder than most stones.

Also because of its high RI the stone normally has good brilliance.

Have a look at this 9.5mm round Green Zircon

happy shopping
