I think 10X is not only an industry standard, but designed to sort of optimize general purpose work.

For insciptions...I favor 20X.

I think.

I have two loupes...10x (I think) and 18x. I like the 18x better so I say go for the 20x.

I''d get the 10x unless you have a VVS stone!

I can't see the inscription on mine at 20x.

I have a 10x and a 30x... Its easier to view things with the 10x (focus wise I mean) but obviously you can see more with the 30x... I like looking through the 30x better. I bought them together... the place I bought them from had a pack of 10x, 20x and 30x or two of your choice. I figured I didn''t need all three...

like others, i have a 10x and just got a 30x.

the 10x is good for general observation, and easy to use. i find the 30x tricky to get used to, it field of focus is very small, and needs to be used in good lighting to be able to see anything.

May just get a 20x as well next time i''m buying stuff... well why not

I bought one on amazon.com for only $4 that has a 10x side AND a 20x side. It''s the best.
