I''m planning to get married this September and am having a very stressful time finding a barn to hold the reception in. It needs to be around the Harrisburg, PA area...but anywhere around an hour would do! It''s quite frustrating because nothing can be done until the location is set! Any ideas?

Thanks ephemery1...the inside of the barn pictured, is EXACTLY what I want! I will check out the site and see what info I can gather. As for price, I''m hoping to keep it pretty inexpensive, but I don''t have an exact amount in mind. It will be a smaller wedding, probably under 100. Thanks for the suggestion!

Love the barn wedding venue,
why don''t you try www.theknot.com and go to your local "talk" board, the local boards there are a great resource.

Also, try calling your local historical society(?) and also, don''t rule out apple orchards, etc.
I was shocked to find that there''s an apple orchard/cider mill in my area that has phenomenal flower gardens and a gorgeous barn available for receptions, etc. Who knew?!

Other thoughts-
B&B associations (many are farm/country inns)

State/county/local park lodges.

Tributary, you may want to try looking in the Selinsgrove area. It''s about 45 minutes from Harrisburg and it''s right off of Rt. 11/15. It''s small town but has MANY farms, barns, etc. around it and incredible views of the mountains that surround it, since it''s in the Susquehanna Valley. (My college was located in Selinsgrove; that''s the only reason I even know what/where it is.)

My FI is from Lancaster County, and I have partied in a barn right down the street from him!

Maybe you could borrow that one, it''s a BARN though!

You should check out http://www.lauxmontfarms.com in York.
they have a beautiful barn they call cobblestone courtyard.

In Lancaster, there is
http://www.rockfordplantation.org
and a really neat place called Landis Valley
http://www.landisvalleymuseum.org

There is also a web site that has reception sites listed by county:
http://www.unique-celebrations.com
