"I Like Your Shape, Mme. Macron," said he. Well, more or less. This link could have gone into the Castration Anxiety thread, but no one would have seen it if I had put it here. Aren't you proud to see your president representing you in France for the anniversary of the the entry of the United States into World War I? I do wish the French a joyous Independence Day.

Excerpted from "Vanity Fair":

"Just hours into his latest European trip, Donald Trump is continuing his tour of awkward handshakes. Following his puzzling encounter with Poland’s First Lady last week—in which she appeared to pass him over for a handshake—Trump was sure to greet France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, with a hearty welcome on Thursday. And, perhaps predictable for the former Miss Universe owner, he topped off his hello with a comment about her physical appearance.

As Agence France Presse correspondent Adam Plowright tweeted, the president looked Macron 'up and down' before saying, 'You know, you’re in such great shape . . . beautiful.' And, captured in the video below, Trump is seen pulling Macron into one of his famous grab-and-yank handshakes. After he hugged and kissed her on both cheeks, he took hold of her right hand and pulled her toward him once more."

After his "compliment" to Ms. Macron, he turned to President Macron and said, "She's in such good physical shape. Beautiful." :angryfire:

By which I assume he meant "Wow! She's in such good physical shape for a 64-year old!" because, of course, he traded in each of his prior wives for a younger model long before they got that old (Ivana Trump when she was 43, and Marla Maples when she was 36).

Or maybe he thought he was complimenting President Macron by essentially saying "You picked a good one"?

Of course I may be reading into that because I'm very near Brigitte Macron's age! :cheeky:

I wonder if he would have traded Melania in for a newer model if he hadn't won the election. He's been quoted as saying he thinks his wives are too old after 35 and she just turned 47.

I have no doubt about that. During the campaign my brother told me that this was going around. I later found that Bill Maher had said it,

"Donald kept the box Melania came in, so he could return her when she turns 50" .

I bet she would have divorced him if she didn't fear for her life. When I saw her at the Inauguration, I saw an abused woman. Obviously I cannot know if she is physically abused, but she is not OK. She just has to wait until he decides to get rid of her; then she can be free. Unless he dies first, of course. She is trapped.

The sad thing is I'm sure Trump considered himself on his behavior. Men that act like Trump never see anything wrong with treating women this way. In his warped mind he gave her a compliment.

I agree Deb. I think Melania would have already left him providing the prenup gave her a good sum of money. After seeing how they interact my guess is he's not going to give her much if she divorces him. I read somewhere that Marla only walked away with 2 Million, which is nothing. I have no idea if this is true.
 
Cannot wait til Melania writes a book.

It always is with Trump. And he divorced Marla Maples right before a certain time when the amount he would have had to pay her would have been hit. I am sure he is over the basic limit with Melania due to his need for her as The First Lady. (Her attorney would have had some time limits put into the pre-nup. I am sure sure she has done her time for a decent sum s long as she doesn't screw up on some clause or other.) But I actually think she may fear for her life if she really steps out of line. Like embarrassing him when he is President of The United States. Trump is, after all, a pal of Putin.

I certainly don't envy her situation. But then, she knew what she was getting into yet still signed on -- like Trump voters and Republicans in Congress.

I hope she was smart enough to take advantage of her delayed move to DC to renegotiate the prenup.
 
Everything I want to say about this would get me a huge time out. I hate him so much, I can't even describe it with non 4-letter words. The day he is gone I'm throwing a huge f-ing party. :x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x

I think Melania is a pretty opportunist from Eastern Europe (whose parochial system allows better tolerance of men, and their misogyny). Melania landed a rich guy and she probably does not plan on leaving him. It is interesting that two of three wives of Trump were from Eastern Europe (I explain it by the fact that he is drawn to women who tend to close eyes on such behaviors, because at home they have seen worse stuff). So, I doubt prenup is even in the cards.

Another thing - I don't think Trump understands how other people perceive him or view what he says. Some of it may be genuine lack of social graces, which might be inborn. But the bigger problem is his rigidity ending in being blind to own mistakes and unwilling to even acknowledge them.
