I like Whiteflash, but they don''t have my setting

I posted a few weeks ago about some Blue nile diamonds I was looking at. After reading this board for a while, it sounds like Whiteflash might be a better option for me (I don''t really have the patience to take BN diamonds to appraisers and keep sending them back).

Unfortunately, my fiance already has chosen a setting which she found at blue nile:

Does anyone have any advice for me on getting a WF diamond with this type of setting? BN doesn''t sell settings only. I heard WF has a custom option but I can''t really go over the price of this setting ($1350 or so).

I would contact WF and see what they would charge to make that setting for you. It may be quite resonable.

Well, I''m all for buying from a vendor with pictures, Idealscopes, etc., but in this case, if she is really set on that setting and you don''t want to increase the price by going custom, I think maybe you should at least check the inventory at Blue Nile. Do they have any AGS0 stones listed within your parameters?

I''d agree with this. It''s a pretty basic setting style, so there''s a chance they either have access to something materially equal to it, or they may be able to make it for the price within your budget.

Before deciding they can''t do it, I''d certainly ask.

Go Blue -- if WF''s quote is too high, you could also consider jamesallen.com which also does fine custom work. (although the cost of shipping the diamond to JA would add to the overall budget) And this may already be obvious, but ask for a quote for the ring done in white gold since platinum prices are much higher.
