This is my first post so i will fill in the blanks the best that i can. I am looking for an engagement ring for my girl,my budget is between 1-3k for this is all i can afford right now. I am sure i''m not the first to say this, but i always thought that when it comes time to buy a ring,or jewelry you just go to the local retailer and be done with it...I am starting to think that is the wrong idea. I want to get the best value for my hard earned dollars, and not be taken for a ride by someone who could care less about me or my situation.

Before i came to pricescope i was looking at James Allen,Shane co,Jared,etc.etc...I am not really to keen on going to one of these stores for one: I am just an average joe,and do not like the idea that if i am not dressed the right way they want to shoo me out,you may laugh, but i went into a zales not to long ago,and because i was dressed in a track suit the a-hole behind the counter did not even want to look at me. Secondly, i know nothing, nada, zilch about these stones, someone could sell me whatever from wherever and i would not be able to tell the difference.

Please advise.

Huh? JA will need an appointment with them to view the stones. They are not stuffy from I have seen but I never had an appointment with them.

What are the specs you are looking for?

Hi airram

Of course we will do what we can to help you! Are you open to buying online? If so, we know what your budget is - but how do you want to divide it, concerning the diamond and setting if this sum needs to cover both? Tell us your preferred specs for the size and quality of the diamond and we can make some suggestions for you.

If you want some reassurance how you may be treated at James Allen on account of how you are dressed, go to this page and click on the video in the center titled "James Allen Interview". It is an interview with James Allen Schultz, who started the James Allen site for online sales. A good vendor will treat everyone well, regardless of how they are dressed or their budget.

Welcome to PS

It takes wisdom to know when one doesn''t know enough about something and it takes courage to admit it

Fortunately you found PS.
Here you can learn what you need to know about this very important purchase in order to get the most out of your budget (whatever it may be). If you haven''t already, go to the knowledge section and work you way through the tutorials there. That and participating in this forum was the best thing I ever did to make selecting the perfect diamond for me a complete sucess.

Yes i am open to buying online. I do not know about what specs,or quality,or size...

like i said,i am very uneducated in this area. The price range i posted would have to cover it all. I was on JA earlier this morning and checking out settings, and different stones, but when it starts asking about %,depth,grade....i haven''t a clue on that.

Airram,

This one looks pretty good to me...

Ring...your choice.

Notes below my signature might help.

Best regards,

Airram, do you live near James Allen? If you do, I''d make an appt and let them help you out. You can tell them you found them on Pricescope. I don''t think they''ll treat you badly, and can really help guide you to the perfect ring.

Yes,that is a nice stone RG..thanks. No Hest i don''t live near JA i am based in Denver
