My brother left last night and I made it till he was driving away before I started the lip quivering smushy face snuffling. He''ll be back for good in September, and after 5 1/2 years of seeing him once a year, I''ll be really glad.

Awww, that''s so sweet PR. I love my brother too, and after living in different states for 8 years we see each other all the time now! He just called me today to tell me he just bought $500 worth of fireworks for the 4th, he was so excited! We''ve been pyro''s together since we were little!!! I can''t wait!

8 years? Jeez I can''t imagine! The 4th sounds like it''s going to be a blast! (so to say haha) I see two ''kids'' giggling and going ooooo did you see *that* one?

Well actually we used to throw them at cars.

I got ditched by two different friends on two different occasions this weekend. I don''t have a traditional female friend that is my best friend. SO has been my best friend for a very long time. These two friends were two of the first friends I made when we moved back home. I don''t really have many friends that are reliable, true, good friends. I feel like maybe there''s something wrong with me that I''m unable to make friends.

We need that confession thread back lol.

dragonfly, I don''t think there''s anything wrong with you, I think it''s people in general, at least now a days. People have changed drastically, in my humble opinion, and there doesn''t seem to be the loyalty among friends that there once was. I think it has to do with our society''s mentality that everything is disposable. I was dumped a year ago after a fifteen year close friendship with a girlfriend. When I just couldn''t take her obsessive compulsive need to shop and spend anymore (especially during the recession when her husband was temporarily out of work and she couldn''t even scrape together the copays to pick up her heart meds), I called her on it. That pissed her off, and it pissed me off that she was being so stupid. And what did she need to have *right now*? A new diamond for a RHR of hers. And so to make matters worse, she goes to a shyster jeweler who is known to sell crap whenever he can push it off on someone who knows nothing about diamonds and she got her crappy uncertified diamond on a twelve month payment plan. I wanted to hit her over the head with a brick!

I think people these days are just different.

Mini-Rant Alert:

Will people PLEASE stop glaring at me when I am at the local organic health food stores driving my ENORMOUS vehicle.

Yes, I know how bad they are for the environment, yes I would LOVE to get 45 mpg, yes I would love to park in the spot "reserved for Eco-friendly cars" BUT until a mini cooper/hybrid/gas sipping spaceship of a car can haul a 16ft goose-neck trailer hauling 3 horses around, I simply CAN NOT drive anything any smaller then said gas guzzler.

Yes people, I can be a holistic organic veggie loving tree hugger AND drive a a vehicle that gets 15 mpg and be ok with it!!

I called my male coworker over to kill a bug that was on my desk. My coworker spent so much time TALKING to me that we couldn't find it when he finally went to kill it, even though I was keeping an eye on it (it crawled behind something).

Now I'm freaking out that it's going to crawl ON ME or something .. oh gosh ..

ETA: OMG, I found the bug again! Called my coworker over again, and this time he got it. Whoo, I can actually breathe now ..

Oooh, I so know the feeling. Today I almost ordered this pretty channel set band, but managed to restrain myself... all three times.

Sigh... I can''t help but feel that friends are just not what they used to be anymore. Too much stress, money talk everywhere, we are always late for something or we are too busy, it just feels like people don''t have time for each other. Or they have enough going on in their own lives to care about someone else''s problems. DH and I have only two really close friends and we all do our best not to lose contact, to keep in touch, to see each other at least once a week, because it''s just too easy to grow apart. I feel we''re getting more and more lonely as a society, isolated and absorbed in our own realities.

I don''t think there''s anything wrong with you, dragonfly. You don''t need many friends, IMO, sometimes one is more than enough, if they''re worth it. In the spirit of PS, one might say that quality is more important than quantity!

He has not.... they jumped straight to this.... Not sure the reasoning. I haven''t actually gone to any of his doctor''s appointments. The good thing thus far is that they say he shouldn''t need surgery.

Monday evening: Still no PayPal payment. Called her again. Hey, are you still buying those? "Oh, yes. ...blah blah... just haven''t gotten to it, but it''s a done deal.."

I *must* politely insist that it''s NOT a done deal until I get PAID! lol She says she''s going to do it later tonight. I am crafting my description of this transaction, so that I can post it in the "Bad Buyers" thread on a forum she hangs out on.

It''s white/light cream with beautiful dark, curved legs. It looks like it''s in good shape because the owner had a (hideous) slipcover over it. I''ll take pictures if I get it!

In other news, I hate my renting budget. I hate it I hate it I hate it. We''re going to go drive around the neighbourhoods we want tomorrow and see if any of them are safe. If they''re not, we''ll have to up our budget (which I don''t want to do) or do something nuts. I don''t even know. We don''t have a lot of wiggle room, and it''s making me nervous and stressing me out. And I don''t want to tell BF because he''ll insist on doing one of two things that I absolutely refuse to do. I''m trying to be really supportive right now, but recent decisions are making life a little more difficult than I''m used to. It''s hard and scary and even though it''s the best decision, it''s stressing me out right now. Once I get everything organized it''ll be better. I just dont'' know what other corners to cut...

I am so so sorry you''re dealing with a difficult housing situation. What are the "things" your BF wants to do? As far as cutting corners, what about cutting down on or getting rid of cable tv, internet, cell phones, magazine subscriptions, etc?

I don''t really want to go into details, but our financial situation is going to change drastically soon, and it''s making things kind of tight. My opinion is that we''re adults and we take care of ourselves, no matter how stressful. I''m sorry to keep it so vague, but I just really don''t feel like putting more detail than needed out there about this, KWIM?

As far as luxuries - we decided a long time ago not to get cable, internet access at home is mandatory for my job, we''re cutting our gym membership, our cell phones are at the most basic plan and we''d have to pay out our contract if we cancel them, the only subscription we have is Netflix - but we need some kind of entertainment and that''s relatively cheap, all things considered. I''m probably going to stop climbing for a while, and everything else we do is either free or frisbee, and frisbee is pretty darn close to free. If I''m lucky, I overestimated how much we spend on food/gas, and we can find ways to stretch that, but I''d rather that go into savings than rent. Unless, of course, we can''t find a decent neighbourhood, in which case it has to go to rent. I''m just stressed out because of all the unknowns. I need facts, not estimations, to feel comfortable and right now I just don''t have them. (I really do think I drastically overestimated how much gas we use....so that''s a plus. I was thinking $30/week/car, but it seems like it''s more like $30/wk/total, which should help.)
