First of all, thanks for everyone''s advice.

As an update, I spoke the jewler and they sounded shocked and claimed that one of their diamond suppliers must have overcharged them. They said they would speak with the diamond supplier on Monday and find out why there was such a large discrepancy.

The good news is that the jeweler is willing to match the price that I found online. My guess is that the "diamond supplier" excuse was just a way for the jeweler to save face and cover their *ss.

Since you really wanted to work with the jeweler and he is willing to match the price, looks like a win-win situation for you.

I''m sure the supplier story is just a story too. Does he offer a diamond upgrade policy like WF does?

Good for you for getting the price reduced! But what are the specs on the stone??? I surely hope it is ideal/excellent cut.

Even if they are willing to reduce/match the price, as PP said do you still want to work with someone you know is being dishonest with you?

Unfortunately, the jewellery and diamond business has a rep for not being truthful to customers. Yes, alot of vendors are trying to change that and working very hard, but there are still a ton out there.
Imho, the only way they are going to learn that this is not the way to do business, is if they lose sales/money.

I am glad that it seems to be working out for you. $6K is a whole lotta cash and I would not be willing to overpay by that much.

In response, I think its a great diamond, but I would love your input on the stone. Keep in mind, I wanted a cushion cut that was a little more elongated than a typical cushion cut because my girlfriend has mentioned she likes that look.

Having said that, what do you think:

Carat: 2.38
Measurements: 9.38 x 7.35 x 4.68
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Table: 57%
Depth 63.7%
Culet: Medium
Thin to Very Thick
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: None

Based on the new price, I''ll be paying right around $22,500.

Thanks for everyone''s continued input.

The stats look fine, but as you may know, no one can really say without an ASET photo. I don't see any red flags, and the price is good.
