The diamond came today and I will have the quotes from WF tomorrow for the settings, so I will let you know what I go with after I talk to Renee tomorrow. After looking at all the pictures on here for so long and not seeing any diamonds in person it looked small to me at first and then I realized that the photos on here make the diamonds look really big :) I wanted to take a picture but it''s ridiculously sparkly. I don''t know how I am going to even take pictures of it once I get the setting. I have a Canon SD300 Digital, maybe that''s the problem. Does anyone know how to take a picture of a diamond?

If you use a flash, all you see is a FLASH of light!!!!! So natural light works quite well...I often go outside, but be careful with your unset stone!!!!!

I bet sevens or belle would.

Turn off your flash and use the macro setting.
If you leave the flash on you''ll get one huge reflection and the macro setting will allow you get closer to the object with out it blurring.

The great thing about the digital camera is you''ll see the results automatically and won''t waste a whole role trying with less than stellar results. Sometimes it takes a few tries, in my experience, to get it exactly the way I want.

Also taking the pic on a sunny day really helps.

Do you love it?

Hmmm...I know there are threads w/ advice about picture taking. I believe you need to put your camera on macro setting (the little flower button) and I guess turn off your flash.

And just following up on your last comment on the settings thread, (my own blatantly-biased-halo-obsessed-agenda aside) I just thought I''d add that even though halo rings SEEM like they''re everywher b/c diamond freaks like us on PS adore them, and they''re starting to be more prevelent in the stores/print ads...they''re still not very frequently seen in "real life." I have YET to see one of the many halo styles I drool over in anything but a magazine ad, a website, a store window, or on my own finger at a jewlery shop--just my $.02. THey are definitely very of the moment, but at the same time, it is still the beginning cusp of this trend, I *think*...b/c I just do NOT see them out and about and this is in NY and SoCal. ANyhoo.....

Honestly, you have great taste and have taken your gf''s tastes into account, so there''s no way you''re going to make a bad choice here!

Now get those pictures cracking, young man

i hope you are off working on pics!

as others have mentioned, natural daylight is best for taking diamond pics. turn the flash off and use macro mode if you want to get a really close pic. most importantly......be v e r y still when taking the photo. if you have a timer, use that to take the picture without touching the camera.

I know just how you feel,I have the Stylus 410 and I cannot take close ups either! If you figure it out please post instructions! That said I am dying for pics!

what diamond?!

edited to add: OH the asscher!

pictures!

i personally like low light pictures out of direct sunlight, aka diffused sunlight. directly in the sun for me just turns the stone to chaos and my camera can't capture it. but also depends on the camera!

next to a bright window would be fab too or with a bright office light on it (diffused) works great as well!

no flash.

Congrats!! Can''t wait to see pictures of the coveted Asscher!!

I also have to agree with blueroses...living in CA, I usually like to see what other women are wearing...Halos aren''t the trend in LA (as of yet) or in the So. Cal. area....

Pictures please.
