Hello,

My diamond has black pinpoints in it, however, my GIA report did not show pinpoints and it''s not even shown on the certificate. I checked with the appraiser already, and this diamond matches my certificate except the pinpoints.

can GIA fix this?? What should I do??? Can GIA just refix this part and leave the rest the same or they have to recheck the whole diamond??

GIA report number and the carat weight of your stone?

The GIA report is probably a Diamond Quality Dossier, right? These usually are for smaller stones, higher clarity, with comment on the clarity characteristic and the stone will be inscribed with the GIA report number.

If it is a Dossier type report, to rectify that, you can have it send back to GIA and pay the Diamond Quality Report report for the inclusion plot.

Hi, I don''t have the GIA number with me now. But the diamond is 2.6 carat.

It''s a regular GIA report, so I can sent the diamond back and have them fix the pinpoint part only?

Thanks for your input ~~

Can you post a scan of the report?

If your diamond is lower clarity they might exclude negligible inclusions like pinpoints in favour of marking the more serious inclusions. In an SI2, say, a few pinpoints isn''t going to make any difference, whereas they make all the difference in the VVS grades.

Hi, Sorry, I have the GIA report in the safe and bank is closed already. The Diamond is a VS1 diamond. usually it they don''t mark it on the diamond, they will usually put on commments: additional pinpoint not shown. But my comments is: none. is this normal?? What is the best way??

I am curious how you saw the pinpoints? Clarity grading is done with a 10x magnification (I believe, correct me if I am wrong) so if you needed more than 10x to see them they will not be on the plot.

Hi, I bought the diamond to a jeweler who have the 10x magn.and he saw it, and that''s when I saw it.... so for GIA, if you can''t see it with 10x, then it does not need to be on the plot?? is that correct?

If you cannot see it with 10x then it does not affect the clarity grade, and they only plot inclusions that make the grade as far as I know.
