all my life i have felt that i did not have a direction that i really wanted to take. i have learned so much here. when helping my friend with her ering hunt she said that i have missed my calling. she suggested that i work in a jewlery store. i think that may be what i was meant to do. i have been in sales for 2 years now and i am confident in my ability.

what i need to know is if there are any places that you can suggest for me to inquire about. i live in south east PA. sure i could go for the chain, but i would really prefer a place with a private owner that gives customers the individual customer service that we all want. if there are chains that you feel are worth looking into i would be open to them too. so if there is anyone in the PS community with suggestions i would more then appreciate them. thanks.

Doesn''t GIA have job listings?

they do? i would think to work for them i would need degrees and such, i really want to get into the business but dont know where to start.

Here''s one option:

maybe this isn't the direction you want to go, but this worked for my friends, and i myself worked in a department store jewelry counter but only for a year until I was done with school, but I worked for the department store for 3 years, it was harder to get into the jewelry department unless you knew something about jewelry or you buddied up to the manager, but I worked in another department then when a position opened up, it was mine. I went a different direction after school, my friend stayed in jewelry, then she applied at private jewelry store and she got the job, so her stepping stone was the department fine jewelry counter. Just a thought. So with you already having experience in sales I think you would be able to get your feet wet in a department store environment jewelry counter then coupled with getting a GIA diploma and put in some stable years, you can move forward.
