What is the best price for a 2 ct. I-J SI2 GIA cert RB? My BF does not want me know to anything about the future proposal, but I don''t want him spending more than he needs to if I can help it. We have a jeweler that will price match any legit offer. Let me know what you can find, thanks!

If you search on here (and broaden the table and depth restrictions, you''ll find a wide range of $10k and change up to $15k. There are many variables obviously (a 64% depth goes for less), but if all you want is the cheapest listing you can find it.

Agreed... Any decent 2 carat stone will be about 15 large. for a good one it will be about 20, and for a great one its a lot more like $25K. You guys must be loaded. Okay, enough said. In my humble opinion, I would tell you to try to buy the diamond online from GOG or WF. You will be able to get a superb cut with a hearts and arrows RB from them. Your local jeweler may be able to match the price, even the color, clarity and size, but he will absolutely not be able to match the cut. I can almost bet that your local shop will not have any diamonds of the cut quality you could find at GOG or WF in his store, unless they are hearts on fire, or some other branded cut diamond, which he will likely not want to try to price match with. I would strongly advise you to buy online, if you want to spend less than 20K, I would suggest getting a 1.5 ct. To get a great H&A you will have to spend about 20K for a 2 ct, even with I-J/SI2 specs, and that price will likely include only a modest setting.

BTW, I''m not saying your local jeweler can''t get you a beautiful diamond, I''m just saying that "price matching" is meaningless when it comes to cut quality of diamonds as not all "ideal" cut diamonds are equals.

Welcome to Pricescope!

I had a look for you, I found two well cut diamonds with GIA/ AGS reports to give you an idea, please use as a rough guide only, as Rob mentions, it is difficult to give exact figures as there can be many variables -

J SI2 2cts - $14137

I SI2 2 cts - $18129

These prices may be discounted and available if paying by bankwire, the prices from a brick and mortar jeweller could be more. Also check carefully that any SI2 diamond is eyeclean to your standards.

Ok I am as new to this as anyone. But, I have looked at a ton of stones lateley and I must say; a 1.75ct stone with a great cut looks as big (if not bigger) than a lesser cut 2.0ct stone. And in that size range you can get better color and clarity. But if the magic 2.0ct is what you are looking for then go for it.

ILC - I would start by getting to know your desired parameters better. There is a ton of information and tutorials on this site that will be very helpful to you if you have just begun your diamond search. I agree that an online vendor will probably be your best bet. I say this mostly because of the price advantage and also because most of the trusted vendors recommended here have excellent upgrade policies if that interests you. Although your B&M store should have access to excellent diamonds, and it is great that they will match the price, I tend to find the upgrade policies are usually not as favorable. Unlike rcrosier, I found that my local jeweler in the diamond district was easily able to find me quite a few excellently cut stones (AGS000) to view and consider. Admittedly, the online vendors will have a larger selection.
When you find a few to consider, the great PS members will be happy to help narrow your selection. Happy hunting ;-)

ILC - welcome to PS! I think you''re looking at about $15,000 for a well (not ideal) cut stone. There are some lovely stones that fit your parameters on James Allen.

2.14, J, SI2 - $13,130

2.02, J, SI1 - $13,610

RxTechRN2b - I am quite new to PS (although I have been a long time lurker

) While I value your opinion (and I really do mean that), I''m not sure if it''s appropriate for us to assume or question ILC''s motives, financial situation, or age. She is simply asking us to help her find a stone within her paramaters. Just my humble opinion

Thank you Han!!! I didn''t expect my first post to be so controversial...

Thanks to everyone else for looking too, I appreciate it :)
