I have a 1.30 Carat Round Diamond. I have no sense of style in rings. Opinions?

I’m quite surprised that having the center set with claw prongs may cross over to it being “customized” and not returnable. I have ordered several rings from JA - have always requested claw prongs and never encountered this. So, I suspect the CSR misunderstood what you’re asking for.

After Simone had mentioned to clarify with JA that I only want claw prongs on the center diamond, the person who I spoke to on JA had mentioned that is what they had interpreted from me. This person basically repeated what the previous person had said. They have to get the setting in with a designer to see what their opinion is on whether it should be considered a customized ring or not. *shrugs*

Then I agree with the others, I wouldn’t hassle with the chance that it be deemed a custom project. I am a big fan of the setting you’re considering and would love it as is. I also agree a competent bench can shave down the prongs if you want it changed later.

Yeah OP, not worth it, just get it as is. You might love it and not even think about the prongs later.

I was going to just wait and see what their designer says, which they said could be anywhere between 3-5 days. But I am not going to lie, I feel like I should just forget about it and buy it as is and get it over with.

Agreed, just get it as is. It takes a few weeks for production regardless, so better to initiate the process sooner. ;)

The ring you chose is beautiful! But I won’t lie. I was really hoping you had purchased one of the tapered shank settings because I was dying to see them in real life. I have had my eye on both of them for over 2 years and I just can’t pull the trigger.

I had my eyes set on the tapered setting as well [Link], everyone on here agreed that it would have been a good choice. However, what I didnt share with the board is that shortly before I was going to make the purchase I had a chat with my SO's cousin just to talk about the setting, we were not a fan of the prongs and she felt that my SO would not be a fan of it either. THere is a whole discussion above on how I had attempted to have JA customize this but it was just a complicated process so in the end I chose the pave petite setting with claw prongs.
