Does anyone else get the creeps when you have a service person come to your home (plumber, applicance repair, handyman or whatever) and the obviously flirt with you? It is just so creepy to me! Creepy creepy. I don''t wear a wedding band anymore and it seems like that encourages people to flirt. So I make up a story about how my boyfriend will be happy when he comes home from work to see "fill in the blank" fixed.

Its one thing to flirt out of the house, but when you come to my house to fix something, don''t flirt with me. Is it just me or does it bother anyone else.

It just happened now. The Sears repair guy on my washing machine. Creepy because they are there to fix something and because they know where you live now.

I agree. I don''t like it either. It makes me feel uncomfortable because they''re in my home, generally I''m alone, and I have no way out of the situation.

I don''t think they''ll hunt me down or anything, but I just get very uncomfortable in general when people flirt with me.

I realize they''re just trying to be friendly, though. I''ve never had anyone be blatantly inappropriate.

Thankfully, my DH is pretty handy and does most of the repairs in our home. I cannot tell you the last time that we had anyone come to our house, it has been that long. Not to mention, my DH and I both prefer it if he is home when someone comes a calling

. I have seen way too many 'Dateline' and 'Forensic Files' episodes!

I hate being flirted with by random people! The guy at Subway, the guys who hooked up my washer and dryer, ugh. There was this one guy who came up to me at Walmart and said "Damn you look good in that skirt!". I wish guys would just stop all that nonsense. I agree that guys hitting on you in your own home is very creepy... but I also HATE when guys do it out in public.

Commenting on my legs or being overly nosey about my life will NOT get you a date. Smiling and being polite WILL get my attention though

Well, before I was married, that is.

Which brings me to another point... why do guys still flirt and act creepy to girls who are clearly wearing RINGS?

We should all just find a nice, really old handyman to fix and install everything at our home!

I find it creepier when they don''t speak. Conversation is nice. Flat out getting hit on would suck though.

I remember a gas repair man came to my house, years ago now. He was really flirty and showing off about how many women he sleeps with when he goes to service their appliances. Eugh, I couldn''t wait for him to go!!

Thank GOD this has never happened to me

LOL. How charming. Did he also give you a list and rate them, too?

Oy!

This is one reason why I''m never the only person home when something in the house is getting serviced. I think I''ve just seen too many horror films, but I am flat out uncomfortable being alone in my home with a stranger.

However, a little harmless flirting never hurts--and I''ve actually been much less creeped out by it ever since someone first called me ma''am! Ma''am. Ugh.

Ooohh, this really gets to me too.

I live in an apartment complex, and one summer I worked as the pool attendant. The maintenance men would often come to check on pool stuff and stay and chat with me (which I totally hated because I would be in a bathing suit and it was always uncomfortable) and now whenever I have a maintenance request in, if it''s one of the guys who remembers me, they stay to flirt/chat and it is so hard to get rid of them!

wow, like straight out of a bad porno!

Yeah... The deli guy at the grocery store made a comment about how much ham I was buying. He said my husband probably needed to eat all of that to have enough energy to "satisfy me"... Eeewww!!! Why are you thinking about satisfying me, you perv!?!

Ahahah ladies, I am SO sorry. This is one of those times when I am really glad that guys never flirt with me. Gross.

Although, my husband has never let me be alone when someone is coming to fix something, like the cable guy. He stands next to me and puffs up even if the guy never looks at me lol.

monkey - that sounds like my SO

I say to turn them into their bosses! My FI works for Rotor Rooter corporate in their HR and they have very very strict rules about this. If a complaint comes in it is dealt with immediately and is put into their file. Trust me - they take things things very seriously.

Well, there''s flirting and then there''s sex talk (which is wayyy beyond what I consider flirting)

When I was a young woman I was very beautiful. Most men flirted with me, whether service people, men on the subway, in restaurants, library, you name it.

I never minded a light compliment or two. If someone made comments with obvious sexual overtones I would simply arch my brow and say "excuse me, what did you say" with my drop dead creep stare.

I''m never intimidated. I have a gun and I know how to use it

Yea it is creepy and it is also illegal in many states.
Several states have laws specifically to address it.

I do home computer repairs and the reverse is just as creepy!
To the point that when I show up and someone answers the door in a house coat I tell them I will come back when they are dressed and leave.
You would not believe how often this happens specially when I was doing service calls for a national brand.
It doesn''t happen with my clients.
Well except for one lady that at her office with dozens of people around when I had to crawl under the desk to dig the computer out I found her unmentionables laying there on the floor and when I moved from under the desk she was intentionally standing in a certain position with a short skirt on... well you get the picture...
Creepy!!

That is very gentlemanly of you storm... leaving until the ladies are properly dressed. I know its probably for your protection mostly (from crazy ladies!) but it also shows that you are a professional and can be trusted if the girl just really didn''t have time to get dressed before answering the door. I know that happens to me often and I just throw on the robe.

But really... do people have NO SHAME these days?

Well, it''s not just the service people, I hate it when men are trying to flirt in an impudent, insulting manner as a principle. I mean, I don''t mind getting a friendly, considerate compliment like "You look great today" for example, but unfortunately that''s a rarity. It seems that most men think it''s fetching to shout out descriptive comments regarding my body structure... ahem... and they always get that I''m-so-proud-of-myself look as if they''re expecting me to say "thank you". They usually get something else from me but that''s a different story and I''m not allowed to curse on PS I believe. lol

Eew, what a jerk. I absolutely hate it when a service person flirts with you in YOUR home. It''s just feels so unsafe and totally crosses my boundaries. I would have told the man off.

EWWWWWW, Strm, I''m so sorry this happened to you! YUCK!!!

I''m very fortunate because DH is extremely handy around the house. We almost NEVER need to call a repairman for anything, because DH can usually fix it himself. The only time this ever happened to me was when we got our cable hooked up when we moved into our current house. DH was at work, so I was home by myself. The cable guy was pretty nice, but I still felt a little uncomfortable. Probably more in my head than anything he really did.

It can feel inappropriate any time, but especially in your home, you are more vulnerable. That is a bit creepy to me too. I would mention my weight lifter boyfriend who has a terrible temper issue and likes to get into fights...

It''s because they watch too much ****!!!

Get a clue weirdos!!! Women don''t REALLY want to have sex with RANDOM dirty guys!

GROSS!!!

As a stay at home mom for years, this has always bugged me.
Recently, I have begun answering the door with a phone in my hand and pretending to be talking to someone.
I always say "ok, I''ll see you soon when you get here in a few minutes" or something similar.
Maybe the poor guy has heard it before, maybe not.

Recently an alarm tech was in my garage and looked at the cars parked in there and asked "how''d you get those"
I told him we worked real hard. What did he expect me to say - I stole ''em!! DUH.
