I found the perfect wedding band. It was at helzbergs in their masterpiece collection which are higher quality than their usual rings. Its 18 carat shared prong. Instead of having the slight curve to go around the diamond in my ering it has a sharp curve and sits perfectly flush against my e ring. Its very thin 2mm which I like. It has 11 2 pointers.

Hee''s my question. I don''t know if we can afford it in time for the wedding allowing time for sizing and soldering. Our wedding is May 2. So I''m considering purchasing a plain white gold band for the wedding and until we can get the ring. Has anyone ever done anything like that?

Also tell me what you think of the ring or if you''ve seen one like this anywhere else.

I can't help with the ring, but your link didn't work. Try taking the http:// out and start with www instead.

Is this it?
If so I think it would look very nice with a solitaire ( I think you said you had a tiffany style solitaire?), and I think a matching one worn on top (perhaps an anniversary present) would look really pretty too!

I think it is always useful to have a nice plain band for wearing when you are traveling, or doing work that you wouldn''t want to wear diamonds for, but if it is just a ''place holder'' kind of ring (i.e waiting to get the real thing) do you really want to spend money that you can put toward the real thing?

Also do you think you might be very sentimental about the ring you actually exchange with your wedding vows? If so, then it may be best to try and get the ring you really want. I''ve surprised myself how attached I am to my wedding ring, I thought I would be switching bands more often, but I find myself always wanting to wear my wedding band.

I wasn''t quite sure from your post if cost leading up to the wedding was a concern, or if it was just allowing enough time for sizing and soldering? If it is only allowing time for soldering, perhaps you can get them soldered after the wedding (sorry I don''t know much about soldering, but just a thought).
Best wishes with your decision.

I definitely wouldn''t want the rings soldered before the wedding, so it looks like you just need to allow 3-5 days for them to get one in your size. Does Helzberg have any kind of financing plan? If so, that could buy you a little time and just pay it off as soon as possible after the wedding. But there''s nothing wrong with buying a plain band either, since there might be times you''d like to wear it instead of your diamond rings as someone has already mentioned.

(lurker making first post)

I purchased the 1/2 carat version of this as my wedding band. This was pre-pricescope (though there are NO recommended vendors in my state so I''m not sure it would have made a difference anyway).

I''m not married yet so it currently sits in my drawer, but so far I''ve been very pleased with how it sits against my engagement ring. I looked around for something similar before I bought it, but couldn''t find anything quite like it either in B&M stores or online.

If you are nearby a Helzberg store they will offer financing, though they have to send the ring out for sizing.

Good luck!

I bought several rings from Helzberg. It doesn''t take long to to size and solder together (maybe a week or less). They have layaway with 10% down and pay off in 10 months. You can also get a Helzberg card and make payments and take the ring before it is paid off. This might be an option.

Don''t forget to get their extended care plan. It is for the life of the ring and you pay a certain amount depending on how much the ring cost: for your ring it would be between $60 & $75--somewhere in there. The care plan covers resizing, replating, fixing loose stones and replacing lost stones IF you take the ring in every 6 months for checking. It is worth it. Ask your store about it.

I just bought a big amethyst ring there a couple weeks ago. I put two scratches on the stone that they could not polish out so they will either replace the stone or give me a new ring. So I feel the care plan already paid for itself.

I agree with the other poster that it would be a good idea to have a plain band. Use that for the wedding if you can''t get the other one in time. You can then switch off and use both.

I have an engagement/wedding band set from the Masterpiece collection. I''m sure you will enjoy yours.

I would recommend getting the plain wedding band, and saving up for the diamond band. It could even be a first anniversary gift, depending on how long it takes to save up. In any case, as several have mentioned, you will find that plain band very useful in the future because there are activities where you won''t want to wear your diamond rings.

You don''t need to solder the bands together before the wedding. You can do that soon afterwards.
