And it is indeed strapless too! Shockingly, I love the simplicity of it. Only a little embellishment, but they are Swarovski crystals in key places, and the material is raw silk. Here''s a link:

Only problem is I can''t decide what color. I want to look like a bride, but blush looks amazing on my skin. I tried the sample on in natural.

What a fantastic dress!

that dress is to die for! and the blush would look stunning--i say go for it!

BEAUTIFUL dress! Just looking at your avatar, I think the blush would look wonderful on you!

Beautiful dress. I like both colors.

Link for us lazy folk

Click me....click me...

It''s beautiful. I like both colours as well-don''t think you can go wrong with either.

Pretty.

Winkself,
How come I couldn''t see your dress? I clicked on the link but it didn''t work.

What''s your dress called? who makes it?

(so curious, but link won''t work!)

The link doesn''t work

Glad you found a dress, though

I''m soo happy that you found THE dress! But add me to the list that can''t see it...

Crap! The link did work for two days, because I kept looking at it in both colors. But now it just shows error on page. Maybe cutting and pasting in the browser will still bring it up. I love the dress. I think it''s a Mon Cheri bridal, isn''t it? I love their collections.

boo! can''t see it!!! post it again!!!

I'm so glad you fund the gown of the dreams you didn't even know you had. I'm sure you'll look terrific in it!

Actually, I''m not so sure it''s "the one" anymore.

I''m getting cold feet about the dress. I absolutely LOVE from the hips up, but I''m having second thoughts about the way the front bottom is straight but the rest of the bottom gathers. (It''s Mon Cheri''s Valeria). I thought the dress was a true mermaid style, but when I go back to the picture on the site, the gathering for the bottom breaks at the center front, and becomes a sheath style right in the center. If I can find a gown with that gorgeous bust and crystals with either a trumpet or mermaid skirt, I''ll buy it. I just can''t justify spending $1,500 on a gown I''m not 100% sure on.

So I bought two magazines tonight, and found a Brides by Demetrios gown that I''ve fallen in love with, but can''t find it on their site!!! It''s on page 125 of the January/February Bridal Guide. Can someone help me find it on the site?

link doesn''t work anymore

I did see the dress and thought it to be very pretty

I''m in

with this style of dress. What about something similar?

If the warmer colors look better on your skin (as blush is warm, white is cool) how about going with ivory?

.....like an M colored diamond vs. a D....both stunning in the right cut!

I found the gown on the Demetrios site last night, and found that it was Taffeta...something I don''t want. So, we were back to square one. However, I did stumble across some Sottero and Madgely gowns in the magazine, and went to their site. I found several gowns that are just STUNNING, and have the shape that I want. So, I''ve printed them out, and will see if I can find a bridal salon in my area that carries them. I''ll let you know what I find out.

Some of the S&M (lol!) styles are:

SSM5140: "One piece strapless A-line (looks more like a mermaid shape to me) with a corset closure in Empress taffeta with a lot of lace and rouching on the bodice
Adorae: Slim A-line (again, fitted to the thigh then has a flaired out bottom) with a sweetheart neckline and corset closure in Demir stretch satin with a balloon hem
Farrah: fit and flair with sweetheart neckline, corset back, in valencia organza. Has chevron pleats (very unusual), and rows of crystals and beading across teh neckline and tiers throughout the bodice and skirt.
SSM5206B: again, strapless, corset back, fit and flair shape. Lolts of lace, tulle, and it has a bolero jacket with a gorgeous brooch on it.

There''s one more from this company, but I''d need to see it in person as I''m not sure about the fabric of the skirt.

Dress 1

Dress 2

Couldn't find dress 3

Dress 4

I'm loving number 2. Number 4 is too busy for me and though I love number 1, I'm not sure I like the color it's shown in.

I've seen #4 { pewter}IRL, it's not as puffy as the picture and simply gorgeous!!!!!!

I don''t like the short sleeve bolero of dress 4, but love the style of the gown.

i love number four, but something is off about the sleeves to me. maybe becuase it looks like a jacket? i would want to see it on a real person to make a final decision.

off topic - but does anyone else get annoyed/weird out by the fact that hardly any models look happy to be in a wedding dress? i find it hard to like a dress if the model does not look like she''s happy and about to get married.

Lol...that''s because it IS a jacket!
9.gif

Quite frankly, some of those scrawny models in the magazines are in such weird positions they look like they''re taking a dump!
38.gif
I''d like to see two pictures for each gown...one model a size 4, and one model a size 16 or 18. The average American woman is a size 14 (believe it or not), so why not show more realistic body types in fashion magazines?

i love dress #2 of the new batch. it reminds me the most of the original dress (fwiw, i didn''t mind the way the skirt was made but i think it would take the right person to pull it off.....that could be you winks! oh, you didn''t like the fabric anyways, nevermind). #2 is classy w/the right amount of bling! have you been to try on dresses or are you scoping online only right now?

Around here, the bridal stores are closed on Mondays, so I have to wait until tomorrow to go shopping. The nearest shop that carries Sottero & Midgely is about 45 minutes away, and closed on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. My daily schedule is kinda nutty: 8:00 am drop 2 of 4 children off to school, 10 a.m. Wink call; Noon - drop shortman off to kindergarten, and 2:45 pick up the first set, then the little guy at 3. Now, the store is only open until 6, and the kids need to eat dinner at 4:30/5 or they completely lose it. So, when does that leave me time to go?

Melissa,
I love the dress #2. It is so feminine.

not too much extra time, huh? i was mostly just curious...i want to see if/how your opinions change once you try some on & if you had already i was going to bug you for photos. i understand about living far away from bridal stores; the closest one i''ve been to is 45 min away everything else was 1 1/2 to 2 hours. so, it does make it more difficult! do you have a go-to babysitter? then maybe you could go on a saturday? anyway, good luck!

I like the "Adorae" by Sottero & Midgley the best so far, but I can''t get the link to work for the very first one.

Have you just looked through Sottero and Midgley, or have you looked at Maggie Sottero Bride as well? tons of gorgeous dresses there!

Well, I have a grand total of NINE gowns I want to try on! The list, in order of preference, is:

Adorae
VSM7084SW
Farrah
SSM5206B
Melody
Reese(fi''s first pic...he got all excited when we saw it in the book and said it would be perfect on me)
SSM5140
Margot (Fi''s second pic, surprisingly)
Elizabeth

My ex has the children this weekend, so if I don''t get to go tomorrow, I''ll go on Saturday.

Once I saw the picture of the one I thought was it, I lost interest rapidly. I still haven''t had the "THIS IS IT!" moment. I''ll know it when I see it.
