I am going to work on some more close ups tonight.. All of the ones I have already tried to take are very out of focus. The posted ring phot really doesn''t do the ring justice at all. The ring is a single 0.8ct solitare diamond set in white gold with a tapered bead set diamonds on each side. It is stunning. Lets see if I can get it off of her finger this evening.

Any tips...............I am having a tough time taking photos..........is there a basic setup that will ensure I at least get something. I am using a good digital camera.

hey detox,
to take close up shots, you will need to find the ''macro'' setting on your camera. it will allow you to get closer (not too close!) without the pics being fuzzy. be sure the camera is focusing on the ring. if you are too close, it may try to focus on something farther away in the background. if you can, use natural daylight without the flash. keep the camera and the subject very still. you may not get a winner the first time, but just keep trying!

Arg! Ok I will try again tonight. I have tried the macro setting before but the problem might be my shaky hand. I guess i will have to setup a little studio.

If you really want to take clear pictures of small objects, get a tripod. My husband got me a little tabletop tripod for about $15 and the difference is amazing. Before, nine out of ten pictures were unusably blurry. Now every one of them is clear.

This post is not dead. I am still meaning to take some close ups of the rock. Although the point of al the research was to get the best I could with the budget I had, I can honestly say I can''t beleive how many comments she gets on the ring (definetely makes me feel like I did my job)

For all of you that are researching like crazy to buy engagement rings..................THE PLANNING IS NOT OVER!!!!!!!

We were in engaged for about three days before the wedding plans started taking over....................be prepared.
