i finally did make the purchase of my engagement ring and diamond

its indeed not for myself but for my gf ... ^^
also i think it is a tension setting but its called "swirl" on zoara, but i think it means the same thing ...
so many different names for those types of settings, tension, swirl, twist, etc.

cant wait to get it and to take some pics ( sooooo ecited ) should get here start of next week prolly

It's set in a bezel, so not a tension setting.

Beautiful setting! It looks like it's not a true tension set, because the two sides of the ring are connected by a little donut-like platform:

Which I think would make it a little safer than a tension set, not to mention easier to size. However, the 3-D graphic shows the diamond suspended above the donut, so it looks like the diamond is held in place only by the grooves cut into the sides of the swirl, which would also be the case with a true tension ring.

Are you planning to get the ring insured? My only suggestion would be ask an appraiser or some other jewelry professional to look at the "wings" of the swirl carefully to make sure they're thick enough that they won't distort easily under pressure.

thx for ur responses, i just got information that it will prolly arrive at my place the comming monday

also it is indeed possible that ive been talking about the setting in here before^^ then again i got no clue about my gfs taste but i mentioned b4, that she generally does like whatever i pick for her xD she always tells me that i have good taste

Also at least for the moment im not planning to ensure it whatsoever, but will eventually think about it.
Then again its not like its a 10k ring and the mental worth of it cant be relaced with money anyway (in case of loss or whatever)

hey guys,

it is finally here !!! i think it looks fantastic, was totally blown away when i opened the box and i saw how it got illuminated by the little light they placed in there
im also pretty happy about the size ( yes a bit bigger would never hurt but oh well ^^ )
the only thing i was a bit sad about are the missing arrows.
I had rly expected it to show those but then again this might be due to the small size?
can any1 let me know if u can generally see arrow patterns in ~0.4ct stones or are these just too tiny?

i also hope i can post some pictures very soon, sadly dont have a good enough camera right now as with my phone i got no chance of capturing anything :/

I can see arrows in my 16 pointers in my 5 stone ring. You can see arrows in Whiteflash melee (couple of pointers).

That's why you need to see images of the stone (to see how tight the cut is).

I'm glad you are happy with it! How is the sparkle? Take it in the bathroom or in your car when it's sunny.

hey guys, thx for the responses, do u have any tips for lighting conditions or positions of the diamond where u can see the arrows best?
i cant believe that mine doesnt have em, coz on james allen for example i can see arrows even in the worst existing cuts of all time ...
ill try to get my dad to make some nice pictures for you guys, hes got some sick camera n stuff^^
also i do have a proposal plan in mind:

let me try to make it short.
we have our 8th anniversary this dec. thats where it shall happen.
When we had out first back in the day, i placed like tons of candles making a heart n all that stuff in my room and was like super romantic n stuff ... also had rose sheets all over my room and bed and yeah u get the point.
I havent done that since. Also lately i usualy i just treated her to diner n stuff so nothing super special ( on anniversaries that was)
so this year i wanna do the same thing. just pick her up and treat her so she thinks thats all ... but once we get home ... surprise !!
also 1 more thing to note which makes the ring pretty special.
I just recently started development and i litterly spend the first bit of self made money on that ring for her
possible that i forgot to mention something now but i dont have too much time right now and i dont wanna spamm u guys too much
so yeah i hope ill get u pictures soon and maybe u guys can help me find my arrows

EDIT: I KNEW IT had forgotten something xD about the sparkles u had asked ... well i havent seen any diamonds irl before so i cant rly compare, but to me it sparkeled a lot, and i did get myself a few cz's a while ago to compare, and the diamond just has so much more "depth" to the sparkle if u know what i mean.
it sparkles a lot more and it looks like the sparkles actually also come from the inside not just from the top.
Also i have to say about the K color ... when i first looked at it without any other stone it looked super white, but comparing to the D color cz u can definately see that its not a D color xDD but u know what? i rly do like the color
